I'm also interested, let me know when you get the times figured out! |
|
Start time is 0900hrs. This is a half day shoot, plus I am sure there will be some conversing over lunch. CY6 Greg Sullivan "Sully" Chief Instructor SLR15 Rifles TheDefensiveEdge.com |
Yes you just pay for them and DE.
Bring warm clothes, your handgun, a decent holster, gloves, and a willingness to learn. Ohhh some amo might not hurt either ETA: Make sure you bring drinks and food (you can get dehydrated in cold weather). |

I understand that this course is more or less designed for people that carry in the winter, but is it alright to bring a drop leg holster (I would bring a belt holster but do not have one for my gun right now)? Also, what is an expected round count? One more thing, is anyone else from Madison going that would like to carpool? Should I bring my AR for the afternoon? So many questions! :) |
IIRC you shoot a Glock 17 correct? I will be going up for the armorers course the day before. If you want I can leave my holster up at BC's. The wifey will only allow me out for one of the days this weekend so I had to choose either this or the armorers. Bring a couple hundred rounds and you should be good to go (of course more is always better). I always bring extra to every class I take just because I scared the heck out of myself one time and came home from class with literally 10 rounds left (man I was scared I would run out) At BC's a AR is always usefull if you have some downtime. |

none, That G17 (it is a C actually) is now in the hands of MisterPX. I was planning on bringing my Sig P220R. I know it's not what you want to hear, but I am moving away from Glocks (gasp! I know! The whole training crowd thinks I am an idiot!). I found that I shot my Sig better that that Glock. Is a high-ride 6004 good to go or not? It sits high enough that the butt of the gun is under my jacket. Thanks. PS Did you still want that sight? |
Some of us don't think you are crazy. |

Loadout: Pistol Holster. We recommend a concealable holster for the clothing work. Belt that works well with your holster 3-magazines or speed loaders with carrier. 200rds pistol ammunition (minimum) Eye & Ear Protection Gloves Dress for the weather as we will shoot in a blizzard or mud. Alright, I'm bringing my new suppressor so anyone who wants can put some rounds through it. And I just picked up an Advantage Arms conversion kit for my Glock to enjoy cheap practice (though I haven't tried it yet). So that's coming too. Who all is coming, besides me??? I'd hate to be playing in a corner by myself.

I think I am going to sign up today. If I do, where can I get directions? Whoops! Noob double-tapped! Just signed up. Looking forward to meeting some of you guys. I e-mailed DE for directions, but won't be able to check e-mail this weekend. Can anyone IM me an address or map? |

That WAS a fun....and educational too! I learned a lot, and have much to practice. For my first class, this was an excellent experience. I would recommend this to anyone looking to hone their shooting skills. I truely lucked out with this being a small class. Sully is a very patient and informative instructor and I can tell his wealth of knowledge encompasses quite a lot! Glenn_r, thanks for you help and input as well. Thanks escpecially for showing me a few of the "toys". BulletcatchR, great lunch and great range! I'm looking forward to some more training with DE. It's just a matter of time and money now that I am past the "first class jitters". |

I think I will try to make the cold weather carbine course in April. The half day course seemed to be a good way to get my feet wet, before jumping into a two day course. That way a noob like myself can learn about what gear works or doesn't and what is more or less expected so as not to be a drag on the class. |
Don't worry about that as long as you are learning noone will say anything or even think anything against you. We are all there to learn from one of the best IMHO and to have a good time (if you are stressing about slowing down the class then you aren't having fun). |
Oh I am so there!
