Well my cousin calls me earlier today, informs me that he broke up with his GF because she wasn't the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Which ultimatemy means he needs a roommate, and I trust no one more than him.

So I am moving out end of NOV / beg DEC, to Rhinelander, WI

WOOT

I'm gonna be 19 on christmas eve, its about time I move out...

When did you guys move out?>

Congrats! What TF are you going to do up there? Got a job lined up?

I make my bed, once or twice a year. :)

I guess I'm ignorant, what is a TF? :D

No job lined up yet, I am heading up there thurs, and staying until sunday at my Aunt and Uncles (parents of my cousin) to do some job hunting, put in a billion applications. The current job I have I'm only working 20 hours a week (sucks), and no hours for December. So I just sold my AK, trying to get some money together to live on if I can't get a job right away.

I'll be moving out end of nov or beginning of dec...

Rent is like 250 / mo for my half, that includes utilities too. Car insurance and cell phone make my total monthly exspenses 373 / mo - but then I factor in gas money and food, about 500. So one paycheck a month will pay for bills, one will go into the bank. I imagine I'll be making min wage... but I'm only 18 so I guess that's par for course.

They have a technical college there and they do offer a criminal justice program so I can still go to school in a year or two.

I haven't told my Dad yet, so we'll see what he says later tonight... :D

Good for you David.  I wish you well in your new endeavors, I am sure you will be just fine up there in Rhinelander.  Personally I moved out of my parent's house 6 days after I graduated and have never looked back.

Thanks! :D I respect my Dad and have always tried to live up to his expectations, hopefully he'll go along nicely with it, and let me borrow his truck for moving things. And fix the exhaust system on my car :/

IM to ya Dale!

Thanks, I'll be fine.

I just told my Dad and he is extremely pissed off at me, because he doesn't approve of my cousin. Oh well, he'll get over it.

It does not sound too bad. your monthly expenses are within reason. there is some industry in Rhindlander however it may be somewhat depressed. you should be able to find something to cover your expenses. I hit the road at 19 and never looked back... that was a long time ago. good luck! there are plenty of outdoor adventures waiting.    they have a pretty good fun show at the ice arena. keep us posted.

Definately worth it to get out and see the world for a while before going to school and pursuing a career.  Any reason you're not pursuing the military at this time in your life, btw?

Because I'm fat and out of shape? ;) I plan on being a cop in a few years. My ultimate goal is to eventually make it to FBI/Secret Service, or something of that sorts :D But thats a whole nother story.

Good for you.

I'm here in Wausau (be sure and enjoy all our wonderful road construction on your may through), so Rhinelander is not extremely far away from me. I'm not familiar with Rhinelander all that much, and not that familiar with the jobs available there, but I know they have a Wal-Mart. You could always get a job there. I work at the one in Wausau. Not a job I would want to make a career out of, but it pays about ~$7.50 an hour(you get periodic raises), which is not bad. I'm only 17, and they hired me. I had no prior job experience.

Other than that, good luck!

Military could definitely be the ticket for you to get things jump started.  You have an excuse to start getting into shape, and boot camp would finish the job for you.  All of your basic expenses are paid, so your checks are your own to save or spend as you wish.  Every branch has one or more college funds available so you would have money to finish school when you get out and there is tuition reimbursement while you are in so you could actually get a degree before you get out depending on how long you would enlist for.

Too bad you read it wrong huh? I bet you were really happy for a few seconds there...

----

Bullseye, I will try Wal-mart before I try mcdonalds or bk :) - We should hook up sometime! You're only an hour away.

I thought about the military but not sure if it's what I want to do, I guess we'll see once I get my fat butt into shape.

Moving out. Good and bad. Never going to see you. To far away. Good to be on your own. I like short sentances today. Find a trade job to start in. They pay more. At least as a general laborer compared to Anti-gunmart....errrr Walmart.

Don't worry, Commie-Mart is a last resort before fast food places ;) I will try like Home Depot, Menards, Grocery stores before Commie-Mart.

I will still see you... I am not done shooting, I am just down to my Glock now after I sell my PBR. I am still going to training, just will be a LONG 6 hour drive :(

Use the recruiters to help you get into shape.  Tell them that you want to enlist and find out what the standards for weight and performance before you can go in and that you would like some help getting there.  If you can make the minimum requirements for becoming a jarhead, you should have no problem getting into the other branches if you wanted to.
It is easier to loose weight when you have a definitive goal than just a general desire to "get into shape".

David,

I moved out of the house at 16.  With the help of God, family, friends, and a little providence; I made it to HS graduation and on to college without dying or going to jail.  After two years in college with the help of God, family, friends, and a little providence; I still wasn't dead or in jail, and ended up moving back "home".  With the help of God, family, friends, and a little providence; I made it through the next three years (barely), had a good job, a great girlfriend (AnnieO), and then transferred to Wisconsin.  The following three years after that were 80+ hour work weeks, and then AnnieO and I got married.  Life's been pretty good since then.

Whatever you do, don't stop looking forward, keep an eye on your goals, and you'll be just fine.
Oh yeah.  Not fucking up helps too, so don't fuck up.

You have to be 21 to buy a handgun, not to own one.

IF you are 18, you can hunt with and/or possess a handgun.  You can not purchase handgun ammo unless you are 21.  If you are under 18, you can only target practice with an adult present.

I can legally own and possess one, just not buy one. I guess that makes alot of sense. The job hunt is still on, but it's looking okay, currently looking at Home Depot, starting pay is 8/hr and all I have to do is sell people doors and windows... order them special windows, etc...

Seems like a laid back job, which fits my laziness :)
