I will be teaching two NRA courses next month, a Home Firearm Safety Course and a Basic Pistol Shooting Course. The Home Firearm Safety Course is four hours long and will be conducted on July 15 from 9am to 1pm. The fee for this couse is $15. The Basic Pistol Course is a 10 hour course and will be taught over two days. The initial session will be on July 27 from 6:30 to 9:30pm and the rest of the course will be held on July 29 starting at 9:00am and ending by 4:00pm. The fee for this course is $70. The Home Firearm Safety Course will give students the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of guns in the home. Students will learn safe gun handling, the unloading of various types of firearms, ammunition, cleaning, and storage of guns. Revolvers and Semi-automatic handguns will be covered as well as lever action, bolt action, pump action, hinge action, semi-automatic, and muzzleloading rifles and shotguns. No shooting will be done in this course. A certificate of training will be awarded to all students who successfully complete the course. The Basic Pistol Course course will give students the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. Students will learn safe firearm handling, parts and operation of both revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition and its function, shooting fundamentals, pistol maintenance and storage, plus more. This course includes several hours of actual shooting time on the range and will give the student a solid foundation in shooting fundamentals. Students may use their own pistols or arrange to borrow one for the class. A certificate of training will be awarded to all students who successfully complete the course.
