Headed there on the bike and wanted to Know. Thanks Chinook3 |
you know tony s.? owns accident managment IIRC he used to be on the board and help my brother after he got hit by a car on his bike |
Common sense says wear them. Even riding across the paddock on my street bike without one feels weird when you are used to wearing them. Personally I have no problems with WI creating a new helmet law or not. What ticks me off is these groups are so adament about getting the ones on the book repealed, they neglect other issues which are more important. Like how lenient courts are to people who turn left in front of a bike or kill a biker because they werent watching what they are doing. Or the blacklists coming back. Or the complete harassment bikers get from certain cities. |
| I support the helmet choice law, but I'm sure happy I had mine on when I got rear ended by some kids in a pickup truck. My helmet was cracked in the back, boots chewed up, windscreen broken in half, lots of damage superficial damage on the bike, and a very painful foot for me. I limped like I had a 2" short pegleg for a week. |

Thankfully we don't have a helmet law in WI. I wear one but thats my choice. Had a friend that was here from Australia, he couldn't get his digi-cam out of his bag fast enough on the way home from the airport to take pictures of a guy riding w/o one. I told him he could wait, as he could take the picture anywhere. I got to give him a little talk about personal freedom that we enjoy living in a free country. -JTP |

I sometimes wear mine, sometimes not. Yeah, it's stupid not to, but I never said I was smart. But I hate helmet laws. There's nothing like sitting in rush hour traffic in Reno, NV or Omaha, NE in July with your brain boiling under a helmet. As for CCW, we're going to get it. I'm feeling really good about that. |
I'm not sure how to take that, and I don't want to hijack the thread. I wear a helmet, I encuorage my friends to wear helmets. I knew a guy who was killed in a low speed crash because he didn't have a helmet on, he was 18 and supposed to leave for the air-force a week after he died. Do I think you should be forced to wear one? NO. just like smoking you know the risks when you sign up and who am I or the .gov to get in the way of your self destruction. In fact, it's less like smoking because you're putting the burden on only one person, yourself. -JTP |
