So I start reloading some mixed 30-06 brass, break 2 depriming pins in 10 minutes, go to gander and get some more, break another, THEN I think to look at the cases....appearently some of the cases a buddy gave me were berdan primed...grrrr! So I go through the cases and cull the berdans. Start up agin and a few minutes later, get a stuck case. first one ever. Can't find a 1/4-20 tap so I'mdone for the the night. Get a tap this morning, pull the case, and start reloadin....and break a pin again!! &((_%. I missed a couple of berdan cases! I finally got it all loaded, but $^%@. John |

I'm using RCBS dies with a Dillon 550B. I'm using RCBS case lube and pad, simply because I have them. I'd like to use one of those spray on lubes but I don't know much about them. I hadn't reloaded 30-06 on the 550B until now, simply because I didn't shoot it much at all. John |

Sometimes it's just easier to buy commercial brass. A couple of years ago, I got bagfuls of milsurp brass. Tried to prime the brass, but no luck. Soooo... I took out my handy primer pocket reaming tool. About 50 shell cases later, my hands were literally bleeding. Sorry, but I'd rather spend a few extra bucks to have the primers go in with a push of the lever, instead of trying to save maybe $5 by trying to remove what the Military Gods decided to put there in the first place. |

Except for the berdan cases, everything else was commercial, Remington, winchester, herters. the berdan was stamped "AMA 89". Anyone know what that is? One of the reasons I'm getting into reloading a lot again is cause of tight money. I have lots of wolf 7.62x39 and 5.56, and some .45ACP, but everything else is brass, and not much right now. I do have the dillon primer pocket swager, but have hardly used that. It was more of a "just in case" thing. John |
