One of our own AR15.com hometown members, Todd - aka "Flamethrower", has been diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS).  In essence, this is a pre-leukemia condition that requires a Bone Marrow Transplant.

Read Todd's Message Here.

One of the main ways that you can help is getting your blood tested to get on the National Bone Marrow Registry.  Many of the folks here have expressed interest in doing just that.  Now you can get tested and on the registry by having your physician draw the blood and send it in.  Typically, that will cost you something like $75.  However, this weekend there is a drive for donors going on in WI.  You can be tested for free at the following dates/times/locations:

Friday, May 12, 2006 11:00am-1:00pm

It think it would be great for us to come together as a hometown community and get tested together, so here's a poll to see which dates/times/locations work best for you.  I would hope that we a good number of us could meet up, get tested, and then do lunch or dinner afterward.

Please vote in the poll and post your suggestions on when we should meet up (either before, or afterward).

I was planning on one of the Saterday sites, but I'm not sure which would be closest from the South.  If we're planning a meet up, I'll go where ever.

I could also take off, say the afternon Friday, if that's what is most popular.  Since I've turned in my 2 weeks notice anyway:  What are they going to do?  Fire me?!

Holding off on a vote for now.....

Well, I can make any of the first four choices, so my only vote would be a -1 for Lacross.

Then mark off all 4.  We need to figure out a good day and location to get everyone together.

Cool.  Tommy, None ... you coming this way, or heading to Lacrosse?

C'mon folks, there has got to be more that are willing to give up a small blood sample!

ETA:  Dunno if they voted, but the trouble twins will be coming out on Saturday.

The Italian Community Center is Downtown, right off of 94.  I will be in Oconomococ until 10.  How does noon sound?  Earlier?  Later?  What say y'all?

Dammit.

I put the wrong end time on the Italian Community Center collection, but I can't change the poll (donations stop at 10 AM).

It looks like we will have to hit Kathy's House to do the testing if we meet up at noon.  It's right near the zoo, so the guys coming from Madison should have an even easier time getting there (trust me, you don't ant to go throught the Marquette interchange right now).

Is two hours enough time to get stuck and typed?

Thanks bud.  I'm sorry we couldn't get together on this, but both giving blood and getting on the donor list is more important than the socialization.

OK.  Kathy's House it is.  I'm not sure we'll even be getting stuck, though.  From what I've been reading it seems like the initial registration is just done with an inside the mouth swab.  So you may want to lay off the onions for breakfast.

well i gave them a bag of fine A+ blood and got tested they just use 4 mouth swabs one in each corner and put it in to a card to mail off takes longer to do the paper work they want your addy and to others incase they have to contact you latter

Looks like we got 7 additions on the registry today and yesterday.

We saw rugger's truck outside when we arrived  (I left a note guy).  Thanks to all!
