Got home with my new RRA lower at 4:45 this afternoon, sat down at the kitchen table with my tools and rifle kit, and promptly at 5:30, voila, one completed AR!!  This is almost as easy as building an AK, only it's about 4 times as expensive!!!  Pic of my son holding, and drooling all over, my lightweight little rifle.

What did it cost you?
Lower?
Lower kit?
Upper?

I have been wanting to put together a nice light weight AR for a while now. What kind of upper is it? Where did you get it?

I bought the receiver off of gunbroker.com, and had Jon from Jon's Sports Shop in Oshkosh do the transfer for $30.00

What did it cost you?

Lower kit?
Upper?

RRA lower was $105.00 shipped with a $30 transfer fee.
All of the rest of the rifle was a kit from Del-Ton that cost $478.78 shipped.
The carry handle was $65 from gunbroker.com

How much does Twin Cities charge to shoot?  I have to save up some cash to buy some ammo before I can do any hardcore shooting.  I may go to Fleet Farm to get some ammo just to do the barrel break in, but I want to get my hands on some good amounts or surplus soon so I can really shoot this bad boy!

Is it a 5.56 chamber or the .223?

Twin City charges $10 for Non members and $30 for a yearly member ship. They have ranges from 25-300 yds with steel gongs at the 200 and 300 yd. I usually do most of my practice at  the 25 yd ( I move the tgts to 7 yds to start with)

So ya got Jon to do the Transfer....... me Personally, I will never do business with him.(personnel choice)
You should check out precision Gun which is West of Oshkosh on Hwy 44. Much better and would probably not charge ya $30 which I think is High for a $99 lower. Just my $.02

C'mon out Sunday. I'll be there around Noon at the 25 yd line (I'll be the good looking one with an AR....)

Save your self the Ammo on Breakin. On a Chrome lined AR it's a waste of time. Mine shot great out of the box. But if it makes ya feel better. My Platoon and I fired a boat load of NIW issued M4 carbines a few years ago and got 3 rd cloverleafs on the 25Meter Tgts and none of us were breakin in jack....

But if it helps you sleep at night

go with 10 rds single shot/clean between rds/then 10 groups of 3/clean between then let err rip. That's just my method, plenty of them out there or if you have your own tried and true method, use that. But to be honest, you AR out of the box will most likely shoot better then most guys bolt guns that have seen some rounds.

Check your Walmart for Value pack deals on .223, Fleetfarm is another, Also give Precision gun a call. (the owner is a Highpower shooter and a good guy to deal with, or else I can hook ya up with a good deal on a hundred or so, (trust me, I got a boatload in the basement...)
