Hey dairyland, I started a thread in the MN area looking for training ideas and requests. Any input would be greatly appreciated. www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=8&f=28&t=198472 I will also post a link in the training area. Thanks! |

I'd like to see more weekends like handgun 1-2 + shotgun, more courses 'down here' of course, whether at Racine,my place or someone elses yard I think the response in Wisconsin has been great and Sully would have no problem filling a course. I also think an "intro to home defense" type 2 -day course outline covering 'gunfighting 4 gals',non lethal,"family tactics"(or is this gunfighting to protect others...for those with children in the house),handgun 1,shotgun 1,basic clearing,"making a home defense plan and drills like you would fire drills",and defensive alternatives, etc.I'd like to send the missus up for some basic training in pistol and CCW but if there were a course like this I'd come along with her. bulletcatchR |

Since there are several WI students that have had the 2 day carbine class, and there will be more after next month, next step should be a handgun course. Sully would like to do a 2 day handgun in WI and or MN. We would then have several students ready for level 3 in both carbine and handgun. How many of you would be willing to travel here for a 2 day Carbine/Handgun combined level 3 class? It would be great if we had a bunch of students with the same level of training to do some Force on Force, and team tactics based courses. Let me know what you think. |
If I got the money and the ammo, I'm down to do anything training related. I'll talk to Sully about a pistol class when we have the carbine class in may. |

....and... I won't presume anyone talks for Sully, but what are the chances that the DE Carbine alumni can get a pass (or a reduced time class) on the Pistol 1 requirement for some of the advanced/alumni pistol classes? Tommytrauma and none claim that other than the classroom time and the DE version of the speedrock, we'd probably already qualify. If it matters, some of us (AnnieO and I for sure) have taken the AACFI carry course, so we've already done the class time required for a MN permit. Maybe since some of us (Tommy, none, AnnieO, and I) will also need to re-up our qual once the MNSC gets it's act together (we lost out on getting the non-res before the appeal was filed), we could do a 1/2 day alumni Pistol 1? ETA: Maybe on a Friday afternoon before the July/August Alumni weekends? |
It’s true I can’t presume to speak for Sully on this. However this is a discussion we have had many times with people in the past. I can tell you from experience that what the other trainers offer in their class does not come close to covering everything that Handgun 1 does. I had a guy next to me at my Handgun 1 class that had been shooting for almost as long as I had been alive. He was a great shooter, had military experience, had shot some competition, but by the end of the day his group size was cut in half! There are many tricks that Sully pulls out for that class you won’t want to miss. You could probably get through the alumni classes without, but you are not going to get as much out of it. The advanced classes build onto the fundamentals you learn at Handgun 1. I trust you guys and know you’re great shooters, but believe me you would be missing out if you skipped or shortened the class. |

I'm in for handgun 1 in May,most likely the June 1 class as well, just have to beg Clean for some more money(where's the "freeloader" smiley). I've been shooting my Glock for alittle over a year and it seems like all I've accomplished is waste some ammo. Before I cracked the Glock my pistol skills were basically how well can I hide my .38 undercover.(max eff range about 5 feet I don't know if I can hold out till August for shotgun class. bulletcatchR |
Ditto. We're interested in training if the funds are available. Handgun class sounds great. I have a much more difficult time selling it to the Mrs. when it's 6 hours drive each away. Setting up at CLRC helped my argument a lot. "We can't NOT do it, ....... it's right here .......... " Do we have enough local interest to fill a handgun class? Maybe a handgun class on Sat. followed by fighting around vehcles on Sun. If that was at CLRC, it's almost certain that I could sell it to the wife. |
I'm sure there is more than enough interest around here for a handgun class. I plan to talk to Sully about a few things when we have the carbine class. |
Sully told me he is working on doing a WI 2 day Tactical Handgun class that would be very similar to what you mention here. I'm not sure how the planning for that one is going though. That would be a cool class to maybe have at the bulletcatchR place. |
I'd be all over that. bulletcatchR |
addicting enough to get me out shooting when it's 25 below
