So I posted in GD earlier about an offer I put in on a house. The sellers needed an extension so our offer expired this evening. Now that I'm not bound to this offer anymore, I'm having second thoughts about the location. What are your opinions on the Commerce City (Reunion) area?
They are building out there like crazy but I'm concerned about long term value being out so far east. Am I stupid to buy out there? |

Do you enjoy the smell of cancerous death chemicals and pollution? The worst roads in the denver area year round, physically, and metaphorically? Imagine where your water comes from...
Move a tad bit more north if not. Jesus i couldn't even imagine living anywhere south of broomfield. |

Have you been to the Reunion area out by E470? It's nothing like the Commerce City around I270. Nice suburbs, just so far east. Quoted:

What I know and have seen of Commerce City, I would not live there. Have you been to the Reunion area out by E470? It's nothing like the Commerce City around I270. Nice suburbs, just so far east. I have seen that area, and it is still in Commerce City. Like another has said, I would not live anywhere in the Denver metro area. |

You know, this was something I hadn't considered but I looked up South Adams county water quality report and compared it to where I'm at now. There are a bunch of chemicals in the water there...well under EPA "safe" levels but certainly not what I want in my water. Of course there is also Rocky Mountain Arsenal with it's sealed deep injection well just a stone's throw away. Probably not an issue, but who knows what happens if that thing ever leaks into the groundwater. Gonna keep looking and avoid the Reunion area. |

I lived in Henderson, in the Belle Creek neighborhood (104th and US 85) for 5 years before moving for work. I liked it, had a lot of good neighbors, easy access to I76. I worked at the federal center and had decent commute times. Lots of development going on in that area now.
When the market started going off about 3 years ago I and most of the friends I had in the neighborhood sold and moved on. Not necessarily because it was a bad place but people had been stuck in those houses with the low market for years, many had gotten jobs in other parts of town, and when they were no longer under water they sold and moved closer. I'd still probably be living there if I hadn't gotten a better job out of state. The worst thing I could say about it was the Adams County Sheriff was a douche who only had open hours for concealed carry permits one or two days a week during the middle of the day so you had to take off work to go. And you had to make an appointment online months in advance. I'm pretty sure it's a new sheriff now but don't know if the new one is better or not. |

We decided not to buy the house. I just had too many concerns with the area. |
