Did the magazine ban get over turned?  I was semi considering a move to CO and wondered how the gun laws are.

Still 15rd limit, anything over can't be brought in according to written law. YMMV

The mag ban is being widely ignored, county sheriffs have said they will not enforce it.  I've seen "high cap" mags for sale as kits in gun stores in state.

Not necessarily.

If you owned the mags before 07/01/2013, you're good to go.

Even when moving into the state? I'm trying to find the law to see if it covers that situation.

ETA: https://www.colorado.gov/pacific/cbi/firearmstatutes

ETA2: Looks like you're correct, it doesn't differentiate between residencies on 7/1/13. It just states that if you own them on that date.

Pretty much the entire state feels that way, including law enforcement.

It's a completely unenforceable law.  OP should forget he even asked.  I'm astonished anyone still asks, or cares enough to ask.

just look at the mag sticky top of the COHTF for info. The only people who care are those who didn't prepare. OR have some kind of "secret handshake"

Pretty my mindset anymore.  As far as I am concerned, laws like this are null and void, and worth less than the ink and paper they used to print it.  Doesn't hurt that several of the gun shops up here feel the same way

SB 113 would repeal the mag ban and is up for a vote tomorrow.... Don't get your hopes up though.

No way lickenpooper would ever sign it, even if it did make it that far, it never will so it's a moot point.

How can one "prepare" for something like a mag ban?

Unless of course you owned every gun you wanted prior to the ban and had no plans of ever purchasing another one for the rest of your life.

I ask because I have three hundred 30rd AR15 mags.  If I had to sell all the mags before I could enter the state it would effect my decision to buy a business in CO.

Yeah, you don't.

Heck, many mags don't have dates on them.  I bought a bunch of mags before the law passed. Probably not enough, but more than I'll probably ever need. Most of the anti-gun areas in Colorado (Denver... and some of the ritzy mountain towns?) are not places you are going to be shooting anyway. Most of the rural areas have good access to shooting land / shooting areas. Heck there is a public range just outside of Keystone.

The more annoying law is the background checks for private sales thing. You can comply with that... I'm not sure how many people actually are.

Just bring anything you have. As i said there's A STICKY devoted to mags, bringing mags, selling mags, rebuild kits etc.
NO ONE CARES. NO ONE ASK, NO ONE ENFORCES IT
UNLESS you've committed a crime and they toss that  in to bump up the charges

Sounds to me / the COHTF you're the type of gun owner we welcome with open arms. How many mags you / anyone owns is not a factor for moving here.   We're also Very NFA friendly .  Not all CLEO's sign off for F1 & 4's, as a heads up.
Come to CO find a place that suits your needs and Welcome.

If you're thinking of relocating to Northern CO Be WARNED.  Ft. Collins has fallen in to liberal control. While welcoming new business, they have an agenda. It's not looking like one we as gun owners favor, support or want.

FoCo or Ft Fun (as it's called) has fallen like Boulder did decades ago, same for Denver.   Weld Cty on the other hand is still livable. El Paso and other counties are very friendly.

I bought a core15 rifle and had it shipped to Denver, Bighorn Firearms pocketed the mags that came with the rifle. (which they couldn't give to me legally anyway)

And yet inevitably, some will ignorantly confuse the fact that a statute is not being enforced at the present time with it being unenforceable.
