I live in Arvada and just received my ballot for November 5th.
Where do I find information or dirt on the candidates? votejeffco.com was useless |
|
Jefferson County School Board: District 1 - Julie Williams, District 2 - John Newkirk, District 5 - Ken Witt
They are as close as you're gonna get to a conservative slate in Jeffco and are the only shot at taking power away from the teacher Union and giving it back to the parents. Can't help you any further with any more local stuff. |
Look in your local weekly paper... that's how I found out about those school board races. Those names mentioned above are the best your going to get....their oposition all Dem/Union money. That means you Ed Pearlmutter!
No on 66 if you don't have your state taxes to go up every yr. The advg is about 27%. |

No on 66! This. I'm voting no on AA, too. I think it should be in line with the booze tax (I'm against any "sin" tax). However, I don't care if it passes because it will keep the weed underground for most people except the tourists and the control freaks won't get anywhere near the $70 mil. I digress. Usually, I only read as far as "Shall taxes be increased..." and fill-in the "NO" bubble. OP, I see that you're in the Jeffco part of Arvada. You're almost certainly in Hudak's district. Have you signed the recall petition yet? If not, then I can get you the info on where to go sign. I can also tell you the link on the Sec. of State site to check. Thanks. PM me if you need help with this. |

Honestly given the record numbers of Californians moving here due to the pot issue I'm voting to tax the fuck out of it, perhaps it will discourage the hippies if they have to pay a crapton to get weed. Remember it was the Weed issue that got the dems that enacted the gun laws elected. |

I can't stand to see her troll-looking mug all over those recall posters. |

Maybe if republicans would lighten the fuck up about it, dems wouldn't have been elected. You can drink so much alcohol it kills you. Tobacco is more physically addictive than HEROIN. Yet you want to tax MJ at almost 30% for recreational users? That makes sense. |

I voted for 64, BTW and so did at least few others here. You may be onto something about it discouraging the kalifornicators from moving out here. The people who already live out here and smoke won't be subject to that tax since they'll keep getting it from their dealers instead of paying a high (ha, pun) tax. |

I ended up googling them.
You find interesting stuff: One city council candidate in my city was a former policy director for a democrat state legislator. Gee, I wonder what he'll be like? Another is a public school teacher in a unionized district, who is married to a former Dem state legislator. Far be it from me to profile people, but... On my ballot were three for Westminster mayor, eight (choose three) for city council, and two (choose two) for school board. All three mayoral candidates favor spending a crapton of tax money on paying their friends and cousins to redevelop the Westminster Mall, and lobby RTD to run trains through here. Left it blank. Adams 50 school board: two candidates for two at-large seats. As a matter of principle I refuse to vote in uncontested elections. Left it blank. Westie council:eight candidates running for three seats. I googled the candidates. Seven favor the same Chicago-style tax-funding-for-clouted-connected-contractors Westminster Mall redevelopment. Bruce Baker was the only one opposed. The rest all gave the same vapid "pro-development" speech with no specifics. I only voted for the one, and left everyone else blank. |
That means you Ed Pearlmutter!
