I hear this town is still pretty economically depressed... is there any sort of chemical industry in the area?

there's plenty of chemical processing, not the legal type though.

Things are bad here, only to get worse with the regulations being set fourth by the front range ( Denver et al ).

I know we do have a plastics plant of some sort, and I'm sure there are others.  This area was heavily dependent on oil and gas, and as we all know, the Federal Government and the state of Colorado have all but destroyed that industry.

Not really looking to get into gas exploration (will never work for Schlumberger), gas processing might be interesting though. I figured with all the oil shale out there and the available water supply there'd be some heavy industry.

I've been in the midwest for 13 years now and ultimately want to settle in a mountainous region (grew up in Pheonix, AZ). East CO is out due to all the liberals and Kali-imports, but west CO looks pretty good if someplace were hiring process engineers. My google search turned up a Johns Manville insulation plant in Fruita, but I'm not very interested in manufacturing.

How are you all for water treatment and power generation?

I saw on city-data that the consumer cost index is about 10% below national average... true?

The company I work for is looking to hire more chemical engineers/process engineers. We design scrubbing systems for coal fired power plants. http://NeuStream.com

We're based out of Colorado Springs though. I grew up in Grand Junction and while I like it there, I like Colorado Springs better in most areas.

I just moved to GJ four months ago from Guthrie.  Housing here is double to triple OK prices.  Food is about 10%-15% more.  Overall, glad we made the move.

It's a good great place.  Now we just have to save the whole ship ( politics in this state, and especially the gun control)

The springs / el paso cty area might be more centrally located for your needs.

My sister is fixing to move from Lawton, OK to el paso next year, but its a little too close to the border.

Do you CO guys have any hope of repealing the new magazine limits?
