So to translate: 197= Loss of Second Amendment rights at the mere unproven accusation of a crime with no due process whatsoever. So a vindictive ex could make an unfounded accusation just to screw you. 195= You must take a day off work, and use a more expensive course regardless of your experience, the purpose of this bill is purely to make it harder to get a license for low income people, and try to discourage people from even applying. (To be fair though, if it's an NRA course the instructor is already prohibited from doing an online course per the regs) 1228= ? I haven't heard about this one, what is it? 1229= No private trransfers even as gifts, all transfers must go through an FFL, and you have no choice but to pay whatever exorbitant fee the FFL may charge, not to mention have to drive there, and back, and possibly have to take time off from work. The purpose of this is to make it more difficult, and expensive to exercise your second Amendment rights as well as to create a backdoor registry to support a future confiscation. 1224= No standard capacity magazines, this is feel good legislation meant to make self defense as difficult as possible, and dry up the supply of modern firearms, and limit the availability of ANY magazine as not all manufacturers will make a special run of low cap magazines just for ban states, and the ones that do won't make very many, and they will cost more. Does that about sum it up? |

Any truth to the rumor of no grandfather of existing mags and that being the senate amendment? Really? Based solely on what's posted on the CO Leg site, there's still a grandfather clause: "A person may possess a large-capacity magazine if he or she owns the large-capacity magazine on the effective date of the bill and maintains continuous possession of the large-capacity magazine...." |

I thought there were 7, where's the other two? SB196 ("Assault Weapon Liability") and HB1226 ("No CCW on College Campuses") were both laid over until the last day of the session, May 10th. This way, the bills will die without a 3rd reading but they don't show on the record as having been voted down. More political games - no Democrat voted *against* gun control... but they did vote for it, either. |

Good. Again, that was pure rumor from my end, not trying to stir up anything. I was hoping that a grandfather clause existed. |

I thought there were 7, where's the other two? Two of the house bills were not passed by the senate. 1228= ? I haven't heard about this one, what is it? Imposes a fee for the background check, which 1229 means will now be required by law of all transfers, even private sales. |
| 1224 and, I believe, 1229, go back to the House because of the Amendments in the Senate. 1224 originally passed the house 34 to 31 and, according to the Post, a Durango Democrat is considering changing his mind. That would make it 33 -32 one vote shy of killing it at this stage. So close yet so far. |

ya im watching right now but believe it or not I cant yet (last 15 minutes) find a time.. they are in session (I THINK this is the same sesssion) here
am i wrong anyone, got the info of it being today on denverpost.com. thnx |

1224 just re-passed the house. McLachlan voted for it again.
1229 had the Senate amendments (Such as the 72 hour temporary transfer) REJECTED so it is going back to the Senate, probably to have that removed, so that saying "Here, shoot this" at the range will be illegal. |

Not to mention making the mandatory in person CCW class difficult as the instructor will not be able to touch a students gun, nor will the student who may not have a gun yet be able to rent one from the range, or borrow the instructor's. A new purchaser will also be unable to rent, or borrow different models to try out first, or test fire the one they are thinking of buying. It will also be impossible to take your child firearms hunting until they are 18, and can have a gun transferred to them. |

I see on 1229, other then immediate family, background checks will be required. What is suprising is that they've figured out the Trust/Corporation issue, and if you are not immdiate family and listed in the trust/corp, they need background checks. I would expect that type of wording in any future gun bills. So, trust/corp/llc may only be a limited option in the future. For the basic plan to pass stuff on to family, it is still a good option and should be considered.
It just looks like the Dems are learning from thier mistakes. |
