Do those folks work 7 days a week?

FWIW: Most places are out of stock on guns, reloading supplies and ammo. Just in case you weren't up to speed.

Nope, plus they were denied by the state legislature for additional funds to hire more people to help process

Thanks guys.

I'm up on the current delay; I should have elaborated more...

I was just curious how CBI used to due the "checks" (before the current situation we find ourselves in)
on weekends for the gun show transactions and retail transactions.

 Off to the Noon rally.

CBI does work 7 days a week but they are totally swamped and they did get denied extra money from the state this past week.

I'm 6 working days into a quoted 10 day wait.

They do them the same way they've always done them. Except the big rush hit when half of them were on vacation for the holidays

Also, the "rumor" is that people are being sent home instead of performing checks, so as to make a long waiting period, kind of like California.

I doubt that. They have set work hours. In the beginning they were working OT to try and get through them quicker. Not sure if thats still happening or not

I'm sure that they are just VERY busy.

From the CBI Twitter page:

"CBI InstaCheck working to clear 10,670 background checks for firearms purchases in the queue. The team is processing checks from 1/9."

This was posted on 1/17.

I wish one of us knew someone that worked there so we could get the straight scoop on what going on. My understanding has always been that someone is available at CBI 24/7. I'd love to have that confirmed by someone that works there...

Ditto. Paranoia and RUMORS have messed with everyone's Brain. We all know there has been a back log from CBI, why people are posting the same #$%^ question on a daily basis astounds me, it's like you just woke up from a coma..   The volume of people buying guns daily is absolutely staggering. Just wait until the Shot gun & bolt action guys start to panic.

Mine from last Monday was finished today (Monday). Ran down to Loveland 30 minutes after they called. Should have told them to set both rifles aside...can't find another in the reasonable driving area

The whole thing is just ridiculous. We have a federal system available that is still processing checks in minutes, yet here we are in CO, with our tax dollars paying for our very own system. And what did we buy with that money? An 8 day wait because they can't clear the backlog.

They already have.  A few weeks ago bolt guns and shotguns were all that was available.  Yesterday I saw that even those are drying up.  I mentioned it to the guy at the counter and he said that people are getting desperate.

I was at Cabelas last Thursday, and they had received a shipment of 20 or so Bushmaster AR15's.  They were gone by the time I left the store - about 30mins.

I'm doing other things ( house projects ) while the panic subsides.  No fun not being able to find anything, and when you do, it's 2x the cost.

No, sorry for the confusion. I meant that I should have told them I'd take both M&P 15-22s they had last Monday, instead of just one. Nice little rifles.

And we had that nice initiative to let CCW holders purchase without the check, but that was denied.  Sure would be nice right about now!

There was a proposal to have concealed carry permit holders be exempt from the CBI...of course that would have resulted in a deluge of counterfeit permits so as to by pass the iron clad CBI machine....anyway we know how that went.

Wrong. That 3 day time frame is Once the submitted info starts it's "In Que" wait time. Not the time they call it in, 2 different things and 'rumors or unsubstantiated"  info only has more people posting asking the same #$%^ thing 3-4x a week.
Also CBI can issue a delay at any time, which negates the "3 day" time frame.

**3 Business Day Reminder**

The 3 Business day clock does not start until a check has been processed by CBI and the FFL has received a DELAYED response via the search status page or over the phone.

The 3 Business day clock does not include the day the check went into process, nor does it include weekends or any holiday(s) which state offices are officially closed.

Alright so my next thought is since the wait has held pretty steady at 6-7 days for the last 2 weeks straight, that means that a couple thousand people are buying guns everyday in Colorado, correct? Since the backlog isn't getting any smaller, they're basically just working through what's being put back in every single day. It'd be cool if we had an FFL in this thread that could update us everyday on the current queue.

It is posted On the CBI web site among other places. Who cares how many are buying per day, it' isn't getting approvals done any faster. Even the CBI dept head says so.

Besides do you really think a FFL has time to post daily what the wait time us???
He or she has better things to do, like try and stay in business,

I can't seem to find a day to day queue update on the CBI website, only past months and years total numbers.

I care if people are buying firearms everyday because it's pretty awesome. The fact that they can't seem to chip away at the backlog because they have just as many requests coming in everyday as they are processing says something about the state of things. It could even be used to defend the argument we keep hearing about "the majority of Americans" wanting more gun control.

And as much as I've seen some businesses post on Arfcom (check out PK firearms' shenanigans in the bolt carrier thread), I don't think it would be out of the realm of possibility that someone could pop on here and let us know what the queue was every once in a while. They tell me everytime I've stopped in my LGS lately, takes them all of 5 seconds to refresh their screen and they say, "Yep, 10,xxx people in line today, crazy times we live in", or something to that effect.

I made a prediction the friday of the shooting we would see 1/2 milion gun sales the last 2 weeks of Dec. The stats came up and it showed 2.7 MILLION  NCIC Checks for 12/12 That's an average of 500K per week looks like i was way off.
Even worse (depending how you look at the glass) is the .gov knows gun sales per day have not slowed down since dec, But increased.
They still insist AMERICA WANTS STRICTER GUN LAWS.  Who da fuk are they talking to besides them self and some dumb clitoris from CA???????
