Hello everyone,
Well I posted in the General discussion forum about relocating (http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1327493_Thinking_of_relocating_to_someplace_new___.html) and currently have the Denver area as my top choice at the moment. The OP in the thread I just mentioned will elaborate more on my background. Ideally, I would like to secure a job and move to the Denver, or surrounding area, around mid August or so. With that being said, I will have a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering by August. I have decided that I want to relocate to someplace new and think the Denver area will be a good fit for me. So is there anyone here that is an engineer that knows of any companies that are hiring? I do not have much professional experience so I would be looking for something in the 0-2 years experience range. Also, since I am not familiar with all the companies in the area or a local, could you guys tell me of some companies to check out to see if they are hiring? Thanks! |

I have a clean history, so I don't see obtaining one being problematic. I checked the Boeing site and didn't see any positions for my experience level or in my field (Mechanical Engineering). I will keep checking the website though...unless you have connections there... |

Keep looking on their site. Don't limit yourself to just ME jobs though. I have degrees in Comp Sci but am working as a hardware engineer (more on line with a ME?). Some of the guys I work with have, in my opinion, really weird degrees ... mining, hydrology ... but, my company REALLY likes engineers of any type. I think it's more the methodology of thinking that an engineer has that they look for. Clearances can be an issue, but not because of anything in a persons background though. More often, it's the time it takes to get cleared for a particular program/project. |
| What kind of mechanical engineering are you looking to get into? What was your masters focus? There are entry level ME jobs around, but they are usually few and far between. For whatever reason a lot of companies around here are looking for either very experienced or 3-7 years. Let me know what kind of ME you want to be and I'll try to point you in a few directions. |

I still have my eyes on the area and would definitely like to relocate out there! They do big contract projects, like taking down rocky flats, etc. More like blackwater of engineering than a temp agency. |
