Anyone a member or shoot here?  I am interested in a good place to shoot trap and curious to know what they charge members/non-members per round.

I have shot there before.  It's not a bad place to shoot.  A good friend of mine was actually banned from the club because he was teaching NRA approved courses there and the board didn't even sanction a warning, they just banned him and revoked his membership.  I know he didn't seek the board's approval for teaching, but IMHO if you are paying your dues, and a member in good standing, as long as you aren't bringing out a ton of people at a time (which he wasn't) then there should be a problem.  So, in short..because of their gay board members, I revoked my application and went elsewhere.  it's a bit of a wait, but the Boulder Rifle Club has an indoor range, outdoor range, and skeet.  They do have public range days also, but you can always attend with a guest on other days.  Not to mention a much friendlier atmosphere.

Try Golden Gun Club. I've been a member there for years.

Thanks.  Looks like a nice place.  I'll go check it out.

I am mostly interested in joining a club so I can shoot trap and GGC is a little pricey.  I don't know what Aurora costs.  I used to shoot 6+ rounds of trap every weekend and would like to do that again so I can get my skills up and do some registered ATA shoots.  $5/round plus $2.50/round for shells (reloads) plus $10 for gas...I'll just have to cut back a little.

Maybe I'm just spoiled.  A few years back I had to move from Denver to San Francisco for work.  Found a club called Sunnyvale Rod and Gun which charged members $2.50/round for trap...that's a sweet deal.  Actually, that more than pays for the cost of the clays especially when the public is shooting at $5/round.  That's the only thing I miss from my time living there...

Colorado Clays in Brighton is a nice place, totally oriented at shotguns (no rifles/handguns, shotguns only, trap, wobble trap, doubles, skeet, sporting clays).  Very reasonable.  (www.coloradoclays.com)

Kiowa Creek is also out east, but they are more money.

Trap was $5/round everywhere I found two years ago, it's more now (the clays cost more)

Some friends and I did hand trap for a day at Cherry Creek...was cheaper than auto trap. Hell, I had a whole extra case of clays sitting in my trunk for a month after that...took it back to Cherry Creek and they let me pay the range fee with that

For trap and skeet,

http://shoottssc.com/

The club in on Buckley air force base, so you will need to pass a back ground check to become a member as a civilian.

The fee's are 60 a year, plus another $60  work bond charge that you can work off through work parties (loading the houses) or being a range officer one day. After that, any work detail you do afterward is just pad in shooting tickets for round of trap and skeet.    A round of trap or skeet costs $3.

The clubs/range is currently open Wednesday through Sunday from 9AM to 3pm, and in the summer, on Wednesday and Friday, it will be open until 8pm.

On the trap side, we have voice calls for not only the trap fields, but the wobble trap as well.  The skeet side is manual button pulls, but there is a remote voice call in the club house for them if you want to shoot alone/work stations by yourself.

As for Golden gun club, then are closed right now for remodeling of the club house and will be back open in a few months.

As for Aurora gun club, then have a back log of members trying to join, and if you don't have a side in to becoming a member, you have a long wait trying to join.

As for Cherry Creek shooting center, not sure of the fees, but they do have a discount program to lesson the per round fees (IIRQ, 5 to 6 dollars per round), but will still need to buy a parks pass to enter the part to shoot there.

Thank you all for the reviews.  I think I may have to join more than one club to have access to all the shooting disciplines I want.  I will certainly check out the club on base even though it looks like I would have to wait until next year to have the chance at membership.  What's the sponsorship process to become a member at the club on Buckley?

I have been on the wait list at Aurora for almost 2 years...we'll see if that ever opens up.

Thanks again.

Click on the site I posted and drop Mark Adams a Email to have him send you the paperwork.  We have opening for memberships right now.

You will need to send in $60, plus the $60 for your work bond that you can work off with the completed paperwork, and once mark has the forms/funds and you are Back ground checked/passed by the base, you will receive a letter for your base ID card and your membership card.  With that in hand, you will need to take your drivers licenses, your vehicle registration, and proof of insurance to the visitors center on the 6th ave gate to get a Base ID card ( will have a shotgun on the  base ID card so the guards know that you are bringing a gun onto the base to use at the range when you go through the gate).  The  visiting center is open Mon through Fridays, so you can pick any of those days to get your base ID card.

Now once you have that out of the way, before you can shoot at the club, you need to go through the safety and orientation meetings before you are allowed to shoot at the club (Steve does these, and will give you a chance to meet him as well since he is our club president).   The meetings are held on the Saturdays once a month (both at the same time, starting at 9 am and last about an hour), so if you get the ball rolling with Mark, you should be able to shoot at the club in only a few weeks since we just had the the late such meetings a week ago.

Although I don't shoot trap anymore, if you wish to come out the club and shoot one day, let me know and I will sponsor you as a guest (if you are non military, I will need to make arrangements to get you on base).  Some of the trap shooters that I am converting over to shoot skeet still shoot trap, and would mind if you joined them on the trap range to shoot rounds.

It's a bit of a drive from the Denver metro area but CRC out by Byers has shotgun, handgun, rifle silhouette, and 1,000 yd rifle ranges. All ranges are outdoor though.

IM sent.

I am a civilian but would like to take you up on your offer to join you as a guest sometime.  Let me know if I need to make a visit to the visitors center ahead of time to get clearance.
