Anybody able to recommend a FFL for a transfer in the Denver area? What should I expect to pay in transfer fees?
Thanks |

Protekt Solutions in Westminster has been good to me. $20 for transfers I think.
Also, if you're down south talk to Green Mountain Guns (Girton and Yarrow, right by Hampden/Wads). I think they were $20 or $ 25. |

| What exactly happens when you want them to transfer something for you? Do you get a copy of the FFL and then send it to the dealer or person whom you want the firearms from? Or do they send it themselves and you then pay the dealer? Just curious. I have never done this but I see items every now and then that I want but no one carries them in town. Sorry, I am sure this is a stupid question.....I just have never done it before and would like to know what the process is. Thanks. |

Not a stupid question at all, i went through the exact same thing on my first transfer. I also use Dave @ Protekt, he's a home based operation and a stand up guy. What i do is shoot him an email making sure he can accept a gun for me (he is home based and does have a family, so i do it out of courtesy). He promptly emails me back saying he can. Give him the website/email/fax number of the shop you're buying from, and he'll send them his FFL. He'll email you as soon as it arrives at his home and setup an appointment for pickup. Show up at his front door with $20 and he does the 4473 while you wait, away you go with your new firearm. It is very quick and painless. I bought my first pistol from Dave and had no clue how the whole process worked, and he answered all my absurd questions i had at the time....lol. I've since done about 4 other transfers with him and wouldn't go anywhere else if i could help it. His email address is on his website, and he's based in Westminster (almost Broomfield area). |

Thank you for your reply. I am glad to know it is an easy process. I sort of am more a collector than shooter so I often see things on the internet that I would like to get but are not carried by most dealers. Do you have a link to his site by chance? I think I would like to use his service in the future, sounds like their are a lot of people who have used him....thanks again for the information. |

I use Eagle Firearms in Thornton. Very good deal. $15 transfers. Are they the same guys who used to own the storefront at 38th & Kipling? There was a shop at 38th and Wadsworth. That was Gunsmoke, and those jokers moved to 44th and Kipling. Different shop. There used to be an Eagle Firearms in the strip mall on the SW corner of 38th and Kipling, and a web business. I think they specialized in RRA, Stag, and Springfield, but they're gone from the storefront and I get a DNS error when I try to find the website. It's a damn shame. How the hell do Eagle or Bailey Guns go away, and K2 (excuse me, "Green Moutain Family Shooting Center") and Gunsmoke stick around like something that just won't flush? |
