Rodizio Grill, The Brazilian Steakhouse 1801 Wynkoop St (next to Union Station) Denver, CO 80202 (303) 294-9277 The Scene Festive and filled with carnivores, Rodizio Grill & Steakhouse attracts a diverse clientele, from downtown workers looking for a protein fix at lunch to families looking to fill up on all the all-you-can-eat meats at lunch and dinner. The Food A veritable feast of flesh: beef, lamb, pork, buffalo and more are brought to your table by "gauchos," waitstaffers costumed as South American cowboys. The turkey with bacon has some extra pizzazz, and sirloin with garlic has a rich charred flavor. Meats are all butchered Brazilian-style, and one of the tastiest tidbits is cupim, hump meat of the Brahma bull. Eat it and you'll feel like snorting and bellowing. There's also an enormous but not interesting salad bar. The most intriguing ingredient: quails' eggs, which are more interesting for their rarity than their taste. South American wines are priced to please, but skip the desserts. Know Before You Go How do you signal you're ready for more? Simply turn the wooden dowel on the table from red to green, and the gauchos appear with their skewers for you to say yea or nay. A lot of great food! Posted by domingo_x on 07/26/2005 If you're hungry and enjoy meat in all varieties, Rodizio is for you. Essentially there's a a small salad bar with various cold dishes and a few sides that are so-so, but the real treats are the various waiters with skewers of various meats and veggies. Sausage, garlic sirloin, Roast, chicken thighs and hearts, chicken or beef wrapped in bacon, ham, and even grilled veggies (w/ cheese) and pineapple. The drinks menu is massive and includes unique beers (likely brewed locally), a solid winelist, and mixed drinks like the favorite Caipirinha. Meals also include fried breads and bananas. The desserts are amazing - don't miss them. If you are a meat eater, this is the place to go. |

If you like a "show" while you eat, you might want to try the Gasho of Japan - Hibachi Steakhouse. 5071 S Syracuse Cir Ste C. (303) 773-3277. It is south of Denver, right off I-25. You sit "at" the grill where the food is prepared, watching the chef? while his knives wizz around, clinking and clanking while he chops and prepares your food. It's quite a show. Oh, and when they ask you if you want an egg in your rice, say yes. Adds flavor and sticks the rice together making it easier to eat with chop sticks. heBut don't wear a tie because they WILL cut if off, and hang it on the wall.
