Matt is good guy. Tell him Amy and I say hi and best wishes. Amy went to a couple arfcom get togethers years ago when I was running long haul. She had nothing but great things to say about him. |

UPDATE - Today (17 May) - From his wife, Cheryl
Matt is getting really restless and grumpy with being in the hospital which to me means he is feeling better. They still have him on diuretics, I was hopeful he wouldn’t need them but he has some water retention that is proving difficult but not near the level it was at. They want to run this course of antibiotics out to see if it will get rid of the infection on his tricuspid valve, if not he will have to have open heart surgery. We will know more in the beginning of June. They are trying to move him to Sandpoint back to Life Care until that time. Hopefully he will gain back some of the progress he made at rehab before this in that time. In June I will take him back to Seattle for an echocardiogram where we will find out which direction we need to take. Keep on praying, it is working. Sorry for not updating sooner, it just seemed overwhelming to sit and type, I can’t really explain it. It is like I have had adrenaline let down for the past week or so and have had no motivation. |

June 18th update:
Matt just had an angiogram in preparation for heart surgery the end of July. Apparently along the way he had a heart attack as one artery is blocked. This probably happened around the time his aortic valve started going. We will be going back to Seattle for open heart surgery the end of July. Please keep your prayers coming. We are using any money to pay for things insurance doesn’t cover like his iv home infusion, wheelchair, walker, etc, he also ran out of Medicare hospital days, travel to Seattle for appointments and surgery and any remaining will go to make access to his cabin so he can be at his happy place, and saved for any future needs or complications related to his health. |
Grab a fence post, hold it tight, womp your partner with all your might, hit him in the shin, hit him in the head, hit him again the critter ain't dead!
|
Prayers en route.

This was the update from his wife yesterday (Jul 29 at 6:36 AM)
Matt has his open heart surgery tomorrow. He developed a fungal infection which attaches to the tricuspid valve and his aortic valve that they had fixed. I am pretty scared right now as this made an already bad surgery worse I am glad the surgery went well. Prayers to you and your family Matt!! |

Haven't been on AR15.com in years, I messaged Matt a couple times earlier this year and I log into the home page ever week to see if he responded. Hadn't ventured into the site until now. I guess you've got a fair excuse for not writing me back fucker. Any update on his condition?

Well he's back in the hospital, no immediate danger, just some related medical issues. I talked to him, seems in good spirits, says the chow is as good as the Al-Rashid in Baghdad...its been 16yrs, so I can't remember if that's good or bad.

Damn. Prayers for you and your family Matt.
02 Jan 21 From Matts wife Cheryl. Matt is currently at the university of Utah hospital in Salt Lake City. He had very bad bedsores that exploded over a week and pressure ulcers on his heels from his hospital stay for his open heart surgery. He will be there for a couple months why he heals and they do plastic surgery on the bedsores. Part of the problem is he couldn’t use his arms to move around after his heart surgery. His pressure ulcers and the residual from his fungal infection that settled in his foot meant he could not put pressure on his feet. This kept him from trying to stand and getting pressure off his backside. In any case he is healing. We had a scare where they thought there was infection in his bone, but with advanced imaging we found out it was the tissue around the bone and treatable. |
Grab a fence post, hold it tight, womp your partner with all your might, hit him in the shin, hit him in the head, hit him again the critter ain't dead!

Best wishes, Mattman!
