Thinking about possibly relocating there from SoCal.  Preliminary info sounds great - climate, access to San Juan Islands, mountains, British Columbia, good music scene, etc. etc.  Then I get to this:  STRONG chapters of Code Pink, Veterans for Peace, Iraq Veterans Against the War, Food Not Bombs.  Also home to the "longest-running peace vigil in the U.S."

I've got nothing against "peace", but this sounds like Berkeley North.  With that many activist groups in a relatively small city (85,000) is this place totally taken over by libs, or can a normal guy go about his business without stepping over hippies all over the place.  Much of the info above came from Wikipedia, so it could hopefully be bogus.  Hoping to get an on-the-ground report from somebody who knows.

Yeah, those various groups are around.  But, it's a beautiful area (probably one of my favorite places).  Water, islands, you don't have to drive far to be in the sticks, Canada is close by.  Don't let the nutter groups keep you from there.  WA is full of lefties, but it's still filled with decent people too.

Its an amazing place, but yeah Berkeley North is accurate. I loved my time living up there, downtown is cool, but it is extremely liberal. However I will say, not far outside of town its a lot different.

Lynden, WA is the answer you seek.

A small bastion of conservatism in an otherwise liberal county.

Just a short drive to the activities you seek.

Also, Trump held a rally here.

Thanks guys - appreciate the input.  Looks like I need to do a road trip and see how things look on the ground.

I doubt it's contagious, but be careful nevertheless.

Outside of town is OK, as stated, Lynden is the area to look towards. I do not like the direction the state in general is heading, but just got to fight it.

I live just south of town and it's cool, lots of good stuff here.

Custer Sportsman Club is a good place to go shooting, as far as ranges go.

Bellingham is libtard because of Western Washington University.
Whatcom County is actually very conservative.

Lots of places to go shooting and dirt bike riding, you just need to hook up with the right people.
Just don't ask us to tell you where they are in an open forum.

KA3B might be a bit reclusive and secretive, but I'll share.

All those great places to go shooting are out in the forests and parks.

Thank goodness you didn't mention the 500 yard range in the Bellis Fair mall parking lot.

Custer is a highly conservative area as well, I go into Bellingham all the time and never get hassled.

Sanctuary city and plastic bag ban in effect.  Geographically a very nice area though.
