Any local store selling authentic steel jerry cans?
Or make suggestions on whom to order from. |
|
Do a google search, metal jerry cans are still pretty easy to find, many of the 4wd supply shops sell them, I used to pick them up at Central 4wd when I lived in SW Washington, but have also ordered a couple from this company, if you buy 2 you get free shipping.

I believe OP is looking for the real deal, not the carb crap. |

I have not seen any metal non carb crap for years and I have 4 cans on each of my 4wd trucks, I have 4 of them as well as a CJ that has 3 cans and 3 ATVs that I carry a can on. That is 22 cans that I have. I have had no problems with any of them, I do still have some military issue cans that I brought home when I retired from the Army. Finding good quality military cans in good shape these days is not all the easy any more. |

I got a few for my Jeep and home generator. |

How close are you to Issaquah? Mule Outfitters has the Wavian 20L, 10L and 5L cans. Not cheap, but very nice cans.

Quoted: Any local store selling authentic steel jerry cans? Or make suggestions on whom to order from. IIRC, Harbor Freight has metal 5gal cans. ~$40 ea... There's also this, if you can wait for them to be shipped: http://www.ebay.com/itm/20L-5Gallon-Military-Style-Jerry-Green-Can-Fuel-Gas-Storage-Steel-2pcs-/322051398618?hash=item4afbc25bda:g:SO4AAOSwFNZWyPHT 2 5gal cans and what appear to be non-CARB spouts, $45 shipped |

Quoted: You are going to be hard pressed to find new non-CARB ones in the US. Canada is the source for many that people in the US have. Or you can get these for your cans, if they use the regular 'plastic-can' style threading: http://www.ruralking.com/ez-pour-hi-flo-replacement-spout-kit-30051.html?fee=2&fep=82297&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&gclid=CjwKEAjwlfO3BRDR4Pj_u-iO2U0SJAD88y1SAicUlYBOBndJ1GhyAZpA0IDE_0wNJOGQ7UjZWC9q9BoCSOnw_wcB |

Any hassle bringing those back into the states by car? Quoted:

Do they have to be steel? If not, DS Tactical up in Vancouver has authentic Scepters and the exchange rate is fairly favorable again. Its a plastic jug with a hole in it, they don't know or care unless you give them a reason to. |

Look in the Survival forums. There's a pinned thread there.
ETA: Atlantic British/British Pacific is GTG. If you don't mind waiting, get on their e-mail list- they have sales sometimes. When you order, they'll ask what model of Land Rover it's for. Just enter any model, because it doesn't matter for cans. It's just how their ordering system is set up. Shipping charges work out most favorably for orders of multiples of 2 cans of the same size. They ship from NV, IIRC, so the charges probably won't be too bad. |
