Hello, I have an upcoming move to the Seattle area (probably south Seattle/Renton) and will be staying in temporary housing for 1-3 months. Rather than keep a gun safe at an extended stay I'd like to store my guns (probably about 12 rifles and half as many handguns) someplace safe until I can find a permanent place to live. A storage unit sounds like it would be regrettable.
Do you know of any reputable places that I could rent storage at that would be safe to store my guns? Thanks! |

I don't know anything about the place, have only seen it driving by in Bellevue. Might be cost prohibitive in that locale

Is keeping your guns in VA a option until you find a permanent residence? You can see that I don't post much or keep track of my location so well. Been outside the US for the past 4 years and the guns live in a safe with family in PA. Getting them from there to WA is kind of daunting and would make for a long drive. I was thinking about going without them and then mailing them to myself once we get settled. Don't think there would be too much of an issue with that other than the cost of shipping. From what I read there were no legal issues with mailing your own guns to yourself in another state (provided that the state is gun friendly). Quoted:

I know West Coast Armory has an option for that for members. You might want to contact them and inquire. Also looks promising. Saw something mentioned about them from another forum that was posted a few years ago. Will see what they charge too. Thanks guys! |

The Safe Deposit Center charges $9 a cubic foot and were ok with taking in my cheap snap on safe. Should run $70 or $80 a month, which isn't bad at all considering it's in a vault underground. Spoke with the owner and he was very nice.
The West Coast Armory folks were also very nice. You can rent a medium storage locker with room they said for about a dozen AR-15 sized rifles for $240 a year with a $25 membership fee. Not bad either. They did say that longer rifles might not fit. Thanks again for your help.! Looking forward to moving out there. Just hope the housing prices aren't too crazy. |
