Does anyone here have propane trucked to their house? If so, please tell me about it.
We're looking at houses and a couple are propane- not sure what is propane powered at this point but wondering what we should look for and whether we should cross those off the list. Thanks! |

We have a 250 gal tank and it does the cook stove, water heater, clothes dryer, propane furnace, outside barbecue and also a gas log stove in the house. We also have a Lopi Leyden Toploader woodstove that runs most of the time in colder weather.
We can live comfortably if the power goes out.

Propane delivered is about 2 dollars a gallon. Before the wood stove cost was about $100 per month. Now its about $40. We also have an RV we try to keep heated and they will fill my 25 gallon tanks if we ask them to rather than pack those to the RV shop. |
| Need to find out if you will own the tank, or is the tank is being leased by the propane company. If you own the tank you can call around and find out who is selling it cheapest. If you lease, you have to buy their over priced propane. before we got rid of our tank we were spending $2.79+ a gallon for it to be delivered. we hate propane and are phasing it out over time. Only thing left running on it is the cook stove and the furnace. |
We have been on Propane for 20 years now. You must have always lived inside city limit, NG there, Propane for Us Rednecks.
We have FA propane furnace, propane hot water, used to have propane stove, Wife likes electric stove better, so it went away. Got a Wood stove, haven't used the furnace in 2 years now. I like propane hot water, faster to reheat, and if the power goes out, still got hot water. 
It's no big deal, like others say, buy Your tanks, big ones, and shop around for propane when it's cheap. I fill 2 100 gallon tanks about once a year, in the summer, when it's cheap. Forced air Gas heat is the only way to go, unless You got a Woodstove. My Wife loves Her woodstove so much, She even splits and stacks firewood. |
