Hey, can anyone recommend a competent and experienced 1911 gunsmith?  I need some work to get done on my Kimber.  I know a lot of smiths say they can work on 1911, but I know how finicky they can be and I want someone who truly knows the 1911.  Looking for a smith in the South Sound area, but if they are really good, I'll travel to just about anywhere in Western WA.

Thanks.

I would recommend Neemer, formerly of Detonics (now Safari Arms), but I do not know if he works on Kimbers. He is a bit of a purist, and a lot of those guys have a low opinioin of Kimber. You can reach him through OlyArms.

Dave is probably one of the best 1911 smiths on the west coast.  He is in Federal Way.

Another + for Hadley and Neemer!
They are both outstanding 1911 smiths!

Dave Nielsen at Southridge Arms and Refinishing in Orting.  I've seen his work firsthand and it's good.

Neemer at Oly Arms I've heard only good about.

Will dave (either one, but prefer federal way) work on para ordnance pistols.?

It's been my experience that he doesn't really care about brands.   He knows the good things and the bad things about most versions of the 1911.    He would probably tell/show you, find out what you want, and go from there.   (D and V, Federal Way)
