Can you do a bill of sale or do you have to use a certain form for the documentation if so could you point me in the right direction.
Thanks Erik |

The voluntary state form for pistols is at http://www.dol.wa.gov/forms/652004.pdf.
You don't have to use it and both the seller and the buyer have to sign it. I guess it makes sense if you want an official record of the sale for some reason. You can also use it to report a gun as lost. |

WOW! SO, let me recap as I'm a new resident here. If I want to sell a pistol to someone or buy one used from someone, there's no paperwork to fill out? Way different from MI. I have mixed feelings about that one...... I think someone is about be educated in how the locals feel about transplants expressing discomfort with how things here are not like the place they were seemingly all too happy to leave. |

Nope, y'all got me wrong. I want the .gov to mind their own fucking business and quit meddling in the affairs of the state and local government. I'm just trying to learn all that I can about my new "home." I just found it odd is all. I definitely want some kind of paper trail, preferable just between the seller and the purchaser. This way, if my gun that I sell is ever used in a crime, I have proof that I actually sold it.
I'm not insulting anyone Boomer, least of all you, or the people of the great State of Washington. I am not advocating changing anything, just trying to learn is all. As far as being a transplant, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, I'm a Veteran of this nations Armed Forces, and a Disabled Veteran at that. I've payed my dues, so I'll live where in this great nation I choose. I simply found it odd and interesting that there were no checks is all. I don't necessarily mind as I personally believe every law abiding American should own and carry a firearm. That alone is what keeps the would be King Georges at bay....... Why are people in here so quick to just jump all over people? Read, observe, digest, and reflect. If you still think something is not right, then jump down a guys throat. Just sayin............... |

If we reflect on the way your first statement came across there will probably be more throat-jumping-down. Glad you're good with freedom to transfer property without government interference, just didn't come across that way.

| I'm not a big fan of Leviathan. I'm just a guy who want's to be left alone to live my life free from undue interference and influence. I didn't look at the link until after the fact. I like the form and the fact that I can have a record of a sale simply in-case of a knock at my door from Leviathan telling me that a firearm that I used to own was used in a crime. I don't want to be robbed of my freedoms because of someone else's stupidity. |

Fair enough. I don't think anyone jumped down your throat, though, especially by the old WAHTF standards. That knife also cuts both ways. Before claiming to have mixed feelings about our laws being less restrictive than somewhere else, one might take the time to understand how many of the long term residents feel about how much this area has changed in the last 25 years, a lot of which has been driven by newcomers wanting to make this place just like the one they left. Not that this applies to you given your subsequent statements. |

Why in the hell would some one ask for a bill of sale? I often will not buy a gun just out of principle if that is the case.
Follow the law, which is don't sell to out of state or to a felon. Now, how do you know either of these? You don't, and are not required to do any research. If someone commits a crime with your gun....well, thats on them. You have ZERO liability nor do you have to prove you sold the gun. If gun owners don't trust other gun owners......then we have already lost. |

If I were gonna, our libtards back in Michigan had balls......... ![]() |
