Every year, Cascade Shooting Facilities holds its high power clinics. If you've never shot high power, this is a chance to jump-start your season and start right in on the across-the-course matches. If you've never shot your gun beyond 200 yards, this is a chance to get coaching out to 600, and a new-found confidence in your mid-range shooting (I got reminded that long-range shooting is really 1000 yards, by one of the coaches)

For experienced high power shooters, this is a fantastic opportunity to get coaching from world-class shooters. In years past coaches included Palma team members, Juniors champions, high masters, etc. Unless your name is David Tubb, this class will add 10 points to your score.

Info is at: Clinics

Cliff notes:
- There are 3 sessions, each occupies about a day.
- First session centers on 200 yard offhand. Also scoring and target pit procedures
- Second session focuses on rapid fire, prone and seated
- Last session is all about slow prone, 600 yards

This game is all about the fundamentals: position, sight alignment, trigger control.

Equipment:
- Rifle:  Bring what ya got. I saw folks there with 16" carbines. Not an optimal service rifle, but it will work. Bonus points for shooting a Garand.
- Ammo: 69 or 77 gr. Match Kings are optimal, but you could run this with XM193 and benefit. If you don't handload, splurge for a box or 2 of Federal Gold Medal Match
- Sling: A $10 surplus cotton sling will work just fine.
- A shooting mat. Or just Something to lie on. I started out with a surplus sleeping pad
- A shooting jacket. Or a good heavy coat. My first shooting jacket was a heavy work coat.

Dates:
- Feb 4 (offhand)
- Feb 18 (rapid)
- Mar 3 (prone)

For those who have never attended this type of clinic, they are well worth the time.  I'm mostly into practical rifle, or precision tactical rifle stuff, but the clinics like this that I have attended have ALWAYS been worth the time.    The cost benefit ratio is certainly worth consideration.

I was there last year.  Good clinic.

May go again this year if they have space avail.  Don't want to take a spot if a newby wants to learn.

I believe they will hold an "old shooter-new shooter" match sometime after the clinics. Check the schedule to be sure. The calendar seems to be down for maintenance.

It's a good way to get a tune-up and some coaching in an across-the-course match. No classroom instruction, they squad experienced coaches with newbies, and run a regular 80 shot match.
