Buddy of mine bought a milling machine.  Asked for projects a few months back, so I sent him my speedloader for my T/C .54 cal muzzle loader.  Turned out pretty good.  The original is on the left, his copy is on the right.

I've never seen one of those. Does the powder and bullet go down as a unit or does the downward pressure rupture a membrane allowing the power to drop free? That's pretty slick!

The folks at Power Belt Bullets made these about 10-15 years ago.  No longer on the market.  The weak point was the connection between wood and metal.  Notice my poor expoxy job?  His version, of my idea, threaded top and bottom connections to an aluminum tube, making the speed loader the way it should have been.  He said the project was perfect because it helped him work on a number of skills he hadn't used in a while.

The clear plastic tube holds pre-measured powder and projectile.  The black and red "collars" hold a 1.5"x1.5" square of plastic membrane (shopping bag) in place, keeping the powder & projectile in place.  Red is powder side, black is ball.

Take a shot, place the loaded charger over the muzzle of the gun, slam the plunger down hard, plastic membranes break, powder drops, bullet is short seated.  Ram the ball home, cap, and you are ready to shoot.  I can get 6-8 shots off in a minute, which is fast for a ML.

The equivalent of bump fire circa 1853,, I am impressed.
