What are the options for HR 218 qualification in the Puget sound area? Pierce county is not going to work as they want a blanket release of personal information signed. I don't mind giving them personal information, but I don't want them re-releasing my personal information.
Are there any ranges that do qualifications? |

The SPAA range in Tukwila does it. The waiver form they have on their web site doesn't mention the release of personal information, but they do also require you to register with Seattle PD HR. I don't know if SPD HR will require you to sign any additional forms.
The links to their HR218/LEOSA info and the waiver form are near the top of their web site at www.spaarange.com. |

Thanks very much.. That looks much better than the Pierce county program. I don't have any problem letting the agency running the qualification know about me. I just don't want to authorize them to re-release my private information to anyone else who asks for it.
Currently, there is a move in many states to publish personal information (names and addresses) of people who have CCW/CHL permits, or retired law enforcement people who use the HR218 qualifications. Most departments vigorously fight to NOT release this information, but if the courts decide the information is to be released, there isn't much a department can do about that. They can't release information that they don't have though. In the Portland, Oregon metro area, Clackamas County's public safety training center does HR218 qualifications, and all they require is the liability release waiver that looks much like the one that Seattle PD requires. |
