I am coming up on my "new every 2" with Verizon. So I need to know what anyone who knows more about smart phones than me thinks.... Droid Incredible, Droid X or Droid 2? |
|
The X is on top...for now. BTW, I have the Droid X, it's a pretty bad ass machine that also functions quite well as a phone. I think I've turned on my laptop once in the month I've had this thing and that was to get the passkey for my wireless network. Wife is due for a new phone too, may look at the 2 because she likes a physical keyboard. Get any of the 3, you probably won't be disappointed...even if you are, VZW has the 30 day thing, so you can always swap it out and try something else. |
|
Whatever you do, play with the interface for a while. Some people love the Android UI; some people hate it. The Droid X vs Droid 2 comes down mostly to size and physical keyboard choice. I know that Verizon is selling Mobile Hotspot for an extra $20 a month on one of them, the Droid 2, I think. It might be on both. The Droid 2 will come with Android 2.2 preinstalled. The X has 2.1, but will be updateable at some point to 2.2. |

I'd vote for the Incredible, 'cause it's an HTC phone. Essentially a Nexus One with an upgraded camera and the Sense UI. If you're lucky you'll get one with a Samsung AMOLED display.
The X is too big, kinda best suited for purse carriers. The Droid 2 is getting dissapointing reviews As much as I'm an old school Moto fan, nobody is making better phones than HTC right now. |

Wait for the newer and better versions to come out. They just came out with the Droid Incredible. Next it'll be the Droid Unbelievable. Then the Droid Insane. That's the one you want. I think I'm going to hold out for the Droid OMG. http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n93/mike98321/HTX-OMG.jpg Hell yeah! ![]() They say that one'll wipe your ass an' pick your nose for ya!
(sorry Drew, for all the helpful advice. )

I'm a couple weeks into the Incredible. It's got a few bugs, but I'd bet they all do. If it's your first smart phone, it probably doesn't matter much if y ou get an incredible or X ow whatever. If you're already up to speed on smart phones, a little pickiness may serve you.
You might consider hanging tough till Jan when you can get a Verizon iPhone. Order early. |

Quoted: This is going to be my first smart phone... Is the Iphone really worth it? If you're a geek, the Android phones may be a good choice. The phones are just as powerful as the iPhone, and in some cases, better. Certainly they have a lot of advocates. I haven't spent that much time with the Android interface, but the iPhone is drastically more intuitive for me and for everyone I know that has played with both. It just works. And it does an insane amount of very cool stuff. In a lot of places, AT&T is the problem. I've had good service from them here in central Washington, but some places the service is a dealbreaker. |

IPhone user here, I would have to agree with the above. The Iphone is very easy to use. I have the 3Gs. It did have a few glitches when I got it but they have been addressed. My only complaint would be with AT&T. If you are in a 3g area it's fine but if you drop to the Edge network or lower it sucks to try to access the interwebs. Case in point. When I was just out in WY and MT there was no 3g coverage so if I wanted to use the web I would have to suffer with slow service or find a wifi spot. The phone service was good just not the Internet. So I guess if you are going to stay primarily in a metro area where there is 3g get the iPhone. If you venture outwards I think verizon might serve you better.

Quoted: I'm not sure whether Windows Phone 7 will be closer to the iPhone or to Android. Look for it to be closer to the Iphone. Not quite as customizable as the droid or even previous windows mobile releases. But thats on purpose. I have an HTC Hero right now, and I can do a LOT of things with it. I've also fucked it up about 5 times by customizing the shit out of it. I'm looking forward to getting the widows 7 phone. Played with one here at work and it's VERY slick. While I love my android and what I can do with it, at the end of the day, if it would just surf the web, run apps, check email, and make calls, that'd be fine with me. |
