My birthday is next Saturday and the wife finally got around to asking what I would REALLY like.  I told her and she asked what is something else I would like.

With that in mind, if you had the choice of getting a M1 Garand in Service Grade from CMP as a birthday present, which of the two currently available options would you choose and why?  It looks like SA and HR are the current options.

This is a not so sneaky way to get GMW to wish you happy birthday.

What is it that you REALLY wanted that she didn't like?

Not worried about the bd wishes.  It's just another day that has me exactly one day older than I was the previous day.

The M1 Garand.  It was when I raised my eyebrow in a devilish way when asked what my second shoice would be that she agreed to the garand.  The fact I spent over 7 Franklins on her bd presents a few months ago probably had something to do with it as well.

My thoughts...

SA has been to war HR has not... All of my SA are WWII (receivers anyway)

I will say the HR are nicer in the machining... And there are less HR out there...

But like someone said get both

Spanky brings up the point I was going to make.

To me the attaction of the Garand is it's roll in WW2.  The HRs were built post WW2 while the SA were all (IIRC) produced during the war.

So if you want a WW2 vet, you need to go with the SA.
