FYI....wanted to share a rave versus a rant on this fairly sunny day in Seattle. I just wanted to pass on my experience regarding getting me and the Mrs. windows tinted. Went to Accutint located in the Doug's Lynnwood Hummer dealership in Shoreline and received excellent service. They had great prices, very knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone looking for any sort of detailing, tinting, or vehicle paint protection. And the cars look great now! Pics to come.... |

what is a ballpark figure for a tint job? Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Got my tint done in Lakewood off Steilacoom Blvd. for $110.00. It varies by vehicle type and number of windows to be tinted. Linky Top notch work! ETA: The owner and tinter is also an Army veteran. |

Like the previous poster said, it depends on your vehicle (pickup, coupe, sedan, SUV). Bigger is not better. Then we have metallic films. It's what most people have nowadays if they get tints from a reputable installer/shop. They provide better scratch resistance, UV, glare protection then the dyed films. Some shops have lifetime warranties on the film against peeling, bubbling, etc. I didn't pay much mind to warranties, but having tinted windows on my car and my families cars since I was 16....it's priceless since things happen over the years (peeling, bubbling). Next we have ceramic. It's the latest and greatest thing out there. Outstanding scratch, UV, glare protection. You WILL notice a difference in temperature during those hot days. Now it won't feel like someone had the A/C running, but the seats won't be blistering hot. Also, ceramic films will not interfere with GPS, Navigation, or any sorta electronic devices. I can't vouch for this, but if you were to visit any of the radar detector forums or Navigation forums, they swear by ceramic over metallic films. Now I've had ceramic on my cars for 5+ years and can say that it's definitely cooler. It's something I use everyday and get value from their use. Headlights at night, sun, glare from the road after a downpour, heat/glare reduction, UV protection. I've heard that some people are very sensitive to sun damage. So doctors have actually written prescriptions to have a tint installed on their vehicle. You don't have to get "limo" dark to have a cool interior. My mom got a completely clear ceramic film on her car. You can't tell it's tinted at all. She had it done on all the windows (windshield included). This past summer, she definitely knew the car was much cooler. And she's no car enthusiast or into this technical mumbo jumbo. She just knew that whatever "tint" that I suggested to her....worked pretty damn well. If you contact in the tint shops in California, they can't sell enough of this clear type film since they're laws are stricter than ours, most consumers want the advantages of a tint without the "darkening" look. Back to original question....tints run anywhere $300-$450 depending on what type of film and size of car. I know it ain't cheap to some, but I view it as an investment. Kinda like when I spent those extra $$$$ for those Oakley shooting glasses when my $10 safety glasses from work would do the trick. All I can say is the Oakley's didn't fog, were much clearer, fit better....money well spent. |
Wow...tough crowd tonight. I guess my use grammar skills are being critized here versus my content. Again, we I just wanted to share what I have found out over time regarding tints. I was extremely happy with a shop that did extraordinary work on my new cars. I'm sorry to dissapoint, but I'm not affiliated with them at all.
