alright i haven't seen anything on here yet but this seems to be heating up and i wanted to see what everyone else thinks and maybe we can set up a day/time/ open carry event here in washington to support our rights and starbucks in this struggle with the Brady Campaign. see the link below to see the article on King5
Starbucks Open Carry |

Quoted: alright i haven't seen anything on here yet but this seems to be heating up and i wanted to see what everyone else thinks I like people who open carry. They distract the bad guys and become initial targets in a self sacrificing manner so I can have easy target acquisition. Starbucks is under heavy fire to be PC. To OC now seems to push neutral parties toward banishment policy support. I will continue to CCW. Nobody knows, but I have all the insurance I need. |

Quoted: I like people who open carry. They distract the bad guys and become initial targets in a self sacrificing manner Can you cite an example? This is often stated but rarely proven. OC is becoming much much more common but assaults on OCers by anyone but misguided LEO's are not happening proportionally I like open carriers because they are establishing the front line for gun rights ahead of the people with CCW permits and every time they go out and nothing happens helps establish that normal people carry guns too. Look what happened to the pre '86 NFA crowd who were somewhat known for sticking to themselves and doing nothing to educate others about their rights and ask yourself if hiding your gun is always the best idea. |

ask yourself if hiding your gun is always the best idea. Yes. I carry to protect myself, not make a statement. I can best protect myself by not being the first one shot. More power to everyone that OC's and if they want to advertise that they are doing the heavy lifting, that's fine too. |

Actual? No. Common sense & logic? Easy. Make yourself the bad guy. Bank, whatever. Who will you target/go after/ attack first? The lion or the lamb? As for front lines I was in Oly last week. I glad hand MY reps. I call every politician and email them constant. Its not the crowd its the vocal. I make sure my RKBA is well known. As kline, he knows me. Too well. |

Same situation: You are the bad guy, you walk into a bank, grocery store, 7-11, restraunt (whatever) and you see a handful of people openly carrying guns. How quickly do you turn around and walk out? Criminals don't like work, they don't like risk. They will do what is quickest, easiest and safest to them. They will watch a young man walk by and then rob the old woman behind him. If the criminals know people are carrying they are going to be a whole lot less likely to do anything. |
| Got kicked out, well asked to leave, the Cascade Mall in Burlington a while back. Open carrying, daughter on my shoulders, a nervous rent-a-cop came up and asked me if I could depart private property. I thought the mall was as public as you could get. I wear a jacket now. |

I understand that people have preferences, and reasons for them, but to put someone down for wanting to exercise their rights completely out in the open i just don't understand. You know almost every right we have as Americans is circumvented by the legal system right? It's not a new thing.

That is what this topic is about. |

What I learned in this last go round of talking on the point was it HAS been to the Supremes and they DID rule clearly on it. Since moving here I was under the impression it was a grey area, it is NOT. It is clearly legal. ![]() |

I am glad this state is ok with open carry. '
That said I would never do it. I don't need to make a point. I need it to protect me and mine. If you open carry and a bad situation comes along three things can happen. 1. Bad person sees it and backs off. 2. Bad guy sees weapon and shoots you from behind. 3. Bad guy backs off and plans a way to get it away from you. That puts another weapon in the hands of a scum bag. If concealed two things happen. 1. You chose to pull out weapon and defuse situation. 2. You keep it concealed and nothing happens. Of the two, Open carry comes in with 2 out of 3 coming out bad. Concealed you keep control in all situations. YMMV |
