Did some work for a guy last weekend building a deck for him, and today he gave me an AR-15 in appreciation for helping him out, a Colt SP1. He doesn't shoot it, or need it, so it has little value to him. He said it was given to him in the 80's. From looking at it, it hasn't seen but maybe 100 rounds, as there is really no wear on the internals. The buffer and bolt carrier are free of marks, and the bolt has just a dust of carbon on the tail portion, which shows it was fired, but not a lot.
There is no forward assist on the A-1 style upper, and it has the regular SP1 bolt carrier. The barrel is pencil thin, it has the triangular handguards and a standard A-1 stock. There is a small amount of "patina" on the rifle (rust), but no pitting that I can see and it has a two headed screw assembly up on the front of the lower instead of captive take-down pin. Bird cage flash suppressor with slots all the way around. Serial number is SP180XXX. Any idea of the value on this? I didn't ask for anything in return for my work, and didn't expect anything more than beer and food, which I received. I really don't want to take advantage of him, but he wouldn't let me refuse it. Also handed me a Philipine made Armscorp Precision .22LR rifle that looks like and AR, but it is really just a .22LR with a funkadelic wood stock and an even funkier offset scope and scope mount. I'll clean it up and take some photos tonight. Kind of reminded me of the pencil barreled rifle USNPJS had at an LCR the summer before last. |

1200.00 to 1500.00 depending on condition and serial number count. The Colt R 6000 were one of the vary first assault rifles produced and the grand daddy of all AW's. well made, accurate, excellent investment firearm for the safe or a full time shooter this gun will run with the best of them hands down, The SP1 with a offset pin will provide an excellent platform for at A1 retro build or go full circle and go the M4 route will always be a winner.
