All shadetree mechanics should be able to do a brake job. Just as a business man should know how to tie a double windsor and a rifleman should be able to hit a businessman sized target at 500M. Never done one? Neither did anyone else until they did. That's better.

Where are you located and what vehicle is needing the work? Might have a weekend free.... In the Tacoma area, 512/near the South Hill Mall. Vehicle is a 2003 Impala, just under 34,000 miles...yeah deployments do that. Never replaced brakes before, hell don't even change my own oil. / Top of meridian, across from the 7/11? I know the area you speak of, will look there in the morning |

Brake tool...Schucks 11.99 Brake pads/shoes...Schucks..... $40.00 DOT3 fluid...6.99 12 pack of beer...15.00 Only need fluid if you crack the lines open. Most of the time you don't need any special tools. Just get some pads and go to town this, then just take some sand paper to the rotors and or drums to break the glaze and your good to go... |

Shit, I thought that's what power braking was for ![]() Depends on the car really IMHO.. however FWD cars are pretty easy to do the fronts.. rotors come off and everything. All you really need is a c clamp and whatever wrench takes the caliper bolts off. Some cars like to eat rotors.. but rotors are generally cheap enough to replace. I tend to be kinda anal and flush the brakes at the same time.. Your rears may or may not need servicing.. the fronts do the majority of the braking and take the majority of the wear however I know disc brake rear cars can burn through rear pads pretty quick sometimes.. |

High pitched squealing when you press the pedal, steering wheel wiggles when you press the pedal, or just a mileage thing? W-bodys are pretty easy to do brakes on, so if you have some basic hand tools/jack and jack stands and some beer I can help you do it. |
Thanks for the replies/offers to help. Dropped car off to Les Schwab for a free inspection while I was out this morning. Pads are fine, still have 75% life left. Issue was surface rust making the noise, esp since it started up after the recent rain. Apparently I don't drive it enough to burn it off

Quoted: Quoted: I would be willing to help also... I have all tools needed and don't usually take any payments... Including beer... But if one happens to pop into my hand, I don't complain... CHOOSE HIM... THAT WAY we will all show up Wouldn't want him to hurt his back.
