Has anyone in here done one? I am told they are easy, but watching the youtube videos leaves me wanting more information, possibly a mentor. Many of you have been very helpful with other endeavors, so I thought I would ask on this one too. I swear one day I will pay you all back, with more than a pizza and coffee. Maybe one day, beer?! Only once the project is complete.

Thanks

Thanks PCR, I have been there and that is what got me thinking about doing it myself, instead of sending it off right way.

Globemaster, that looks great! That is what I would really like, but I thought I would start more basic as the conversion can easily double or triple in cost as you start adding pieces.

Which one?

308 is the easiest.  No magwell mods and no holes in the sides of the receiver.

The 12 gauge is next.  Still no magwell mods but you have to deal with the holes in the sides of the receiver or live with them.

223 and 7.62x39 is more difficult.  You need to do mods to the magwell, trunnion and add a bullet guide if you want to use military mags.  Other wise you can just use expensive mags.

It is a 12 that I am looking to convert. It is two pins and then moving everything forward.

Those are some beautiful guns, I love the wood.

Well i just move/transferred back to WA from VT and am now located in Poulsbo.  I just recently finished a Saiga 12 conversion, with a weld in back plate.  The whole process is very easy and i recommend anyone with mad dremel tool skills to take this project on.

yeah, a dremel is allz it took for me to convert my s12, that and a hand drill

Did 2 7.62x29 with bullet guides and a 12 with a dremel and a hand drill. Not too difficult.

I take it these are not for sell yet here in the US correct?

not from the factory no, convert one yourself or spend through the ass to buy a allready converted one.

my friends latest Saiga build … it’s done but he hasn’t taken any picture of it with the stock on it; and he says that is was a nightmare to build, and that he probably won’t ever build another one this short again! ... and that even Tromix said he doesn’t like it that short.

they have about 40 hours of labor into the convertion, between himself and his shop partner.

notice the HK sights … they look cool … but are pretty useless on a shotgun!

Blackwell is GTG, they should have a table at the Monroe show next weekend. The conversion is not difficult. I'm looking to get another 12 and do it myself in the near future. It all depends if you want it done up fancy or just functional.

It was my understanding that ALL Saigas came into the US with a stock (sporterized), so doesn't that mean conversion rules apply, not original manufacture rules?
