So, being it was a nice day, the wife and I packed up the little one and headed down to Tacoma to visit some relatives and head over to The Taste of Tacoma.
Wow. Just friggin' wow! It was a g-dam hootchie fest, and not the kinda hotties you might want to see scantily clad. All kinds of wrong and very little "whoa". Don't forget the "thugs" with the pants belted under their asses. I weep for our future if trash like this is going to be running things soon........... Food was so-so except for the piroshky ––––- delicious! Spent a few hours and managed to almost lose my temper only once: a woman (I use the term loosely) and her baby daddy stepped infront of my wife while she was pushing my daughter's stroller, causing my wife to bump her leg while trying to veer out of the way. My wife, being much nicer than I said "Oh, sorry" and smiled. The fat cow turned to face her, and stood there, giving my wife a very "hard" stare. After a few seconds of staring, I finally had my fill and said "maybe you shouldn't cut in front of someone pushing a stroller, dumbass ....wanna give me a hard look? You can go fuck yourself". Much to my suprise, they walked away with no further issue. Needless to say the wife was unhappy with my retort and I was in the doghouse ........ at least until I won her over with a fresh piroshky. In all it was a nice day. Beautiful weather, decent music, ok food, and I'm not on the shit-list any longer. But I still weep for our future.................... (and before anyone mentions, YES, I do need to watch my language around my little one and thankfully she's too young to mimic daddy's vernacular. When I get angry the fun words fly.............and I was a bit angry.) |

Needless to say the wife was unhappy with my retort and I was in the doghouse ........ . That's a training/desensitization issue. The more you do it the less she will notice and then at somepoint it will become an expected event. I think you handled it perfectly.

Thank you, sir! I think I'll begin Operation Desensitization ASAP! To answer other questions: ––I never felt "unsafe". ––Believe me, you do not want to see most of what I saw hootchie-wise yesterday. There are some things that can not be unseen ......the horror....the horror...... ––I find I like large crowded festivals less and less the older I get, especially when my wife and kid are with me. Trying to have a good time and be "on the watch" is difficult. I don't want to be over protective with my family but yesterday was a real eye-opener.......... |

Big Tony,
Good for you. I get so sick and tired of these "jail yard" sissies with their shit below their ass, holding their "package" WTF. It's just like going into a coffee shop and having some fucking purple haired, 30 facial piercing bitch, wait on you. Diversity my ass. My wife is Russian, so i get real piroshky, and perogi (think .50cal size piroshky) all the time. Good eats. As far as the language. I do the same thing and have to watch myself. It was quite spectacular though, to see my two-year-old say God Damn it, when he couldn't fit a certain piece in his puzzle. I mean hey, it was the correct situation |

Cool review. Sounds typical of most large gatherings in Tacoma. That's why I stay away from 'em too.
Good on ya for standin' up to the shitbags. It's important for them to know us "regular folks" aren't intimidated by them. Just remember to treat lightly at times........................gauge the situation. |

Thanks guys, I appreciate the feedback. I didn't feel like I over reacted......
I try very hard not to become easily excited or agitated by the usual run-of-the-mill assholes that give us all grief on a daily basis, especially when I am "feeling OK about my safety" (if you get what I am saying...). I just couldn't believe that this person would do that to my wife when she was pushing my daughter in her stroller! Holy Cow did that piss me off! I pride myself on being a level headed, easy-going guy. I don't look for trouble nor do I want any, but I will not be intimidated nor will I stand by and watch someone try to intimidate my family! I think I suprised Ms. Thang by standing up to her. Maybe they aren't used to "regular folks" not taking any shit from them? Who knows, but they did walk away without any further incident. I used to love going to Feasts and Fairs when I was a kid and I want my daughter to experience that joy also. Sadly, I'm not sure if I want to go to another one any time soon......... and one thing I learned at the "Taste"–––––– sit somewhere by the stage where classic rock and country music is being played, its Thug Kryptonite! |

It took a visit to that shithole called tacoma to make you worried for out future?
Hell, just reading the spew put forth by some of the assholes around here makes me sure our future is fucked into a cocked hat. Hell, there's a couple here in the htf that qualify for "darwins targets"......
My only wish is that they do a triple back flip onto a scalpel before they reproduce and contaminate the gene pool any further. |

Quoted: I have more fun sitting in my backyard with a beer, a burger, my dogs and my wife than attending any large, crowded event I could think of. Our house's, our rules, our choice of association. This... If I had a yard, a wife, and some dogs Mind if I borrow yers? |

LOL I was in Tacoma on Saturday, but hanging out with my friends in the North End. We went to three different houses, had bratwursts at one, burgers at the next, roast and veggies at the last, and to top of the night we went to rooftop birthday party on a yuppie roof in Downtown Tacoma. Wait, no. We topped off the night when we got dragged to a fashion show on 6th ave at the "fashion co-op" and I precoded to hit on classy Tacoma girls while wearing this T Good times. I'd been warned about "Hoochiefest", aka Taste of Tacoma. That's what the wise locals call it apparently. ETA: If Gemtech made a cool T-shirt, i'd wear it too! |
