Helpdesk Position with a local Clothing Manufacture

The Pros:
Privately held company. (No stock scrutiny, no board of directors, no SOX, & HR is about as un-HR as everyone else!)
Benefits are paid 100% for employee on basic Healthcare plan.
Minimal fee to add children/family to your health plan or if you choose the buy up Plan
The Company is VERY cool, the owners splurge for some cool shit like Summer BBQ's and Parties
Monday - Friday 5am to 5pm... You'll Never work past 5pm or on Weekend
Some OT Possible
There is a TON of opportunity
No chance of getting fired, hell you can get drunk and kill a person and they willl let you keep your job until you go to jail.
The company has never faced a layoff in 30+ years of business
You would get to work with me

The Cons:
The Office is in Preston (yes, 1/2 way up fucking Snoqualmie Pass, outside Issaquah)
Hourly position, not salary
May have to work the 5am-1;30pm shift
The IT Department SUCKS.  Seriously, most of them don't have a clue and have been promoted from the call center or warehouse
You have to work with and be nice to the Trany.  The Murderer is in jail for 26 more months
Within 30-60 days, I will be your boss, moved to a different team in IT, or gone from the company

As for Actual Work responsibilities
Advanced Knowledge of Windows XP and Office 2003 in an enterprise environment.
Experience with Cisco VPN, Remote desktop, VNC, and LogMeIn a plus.
Very good knowledge of fucked up VLANs, security groups, and Active Directly that is a mess would help
How is your printer knowledge? Very few MFC Printers, and a ton of shitty shared desktop printers are the norm!
Having great Customer service skills and patience with Stupid users and REALLY lazy co-workers is a must.
You will REALLY have to think outside the box and be able to diagnose obscure problems

I seriously need a heavy hitter for this, a long time friend and the only other guy on the team besides me that actually works is bailing in two weeks.  Combined we do about 60-65% of all the calls that come in the other 4 people do a combined 35-40% (we take an average of 1,800-2,000 calls a month (all internal).  I don't and won't have time to hold the hand of another new person (we have a guy on the team that just started and doesn't know crap), so a candidate would need to hit the ground running.

This is a GREAT opportunity if you have the patience.  The team is so retarded, just showing up makes you look like a rock star!
Seriously, it's a good company with good people in all the departments, it's just the IT dept that's lacking.

I don't mean to scare people, I'm just being as honest as possible.  This is not for someone wanting to break into IT.
I'd be happy to explain my love/hate for this place for anyone interested.

Sorry Phil.  I've got one guy that has a "degree in computer networking" that can't even map a networked printer...  I really need someone that can take calls on day 1.

HAHAHA Our entire marketing dept. uses MACs... They are bigger pains in the ass then the PC users. Not to mention MACs play REALLY well in a Windows Enterprise

Surprised you're not running Samba 3.
I use it at home on a small, basic network.
Running on a FreeBSD UNIX-box with the etc/samba/smb.conf file set up with my own globals with the UNIX-box acting as a "PDC" running LDAP.
Works fine with MACs (they're really just Debian with a GUI).

I installed VNC on the computer of my trainer during lunch back in my M$ tech support days.

Almost got me fired :-(

too bad it would be one hell of a commute.

Just replied... Sorry, haven't been online much when I'm at home.  Something about poopy diapers and getting puked...
