I was wondering what county has the quickest permit issuance. I am an Illinois resident who hopes to move to Seattle in the near future and was looking at obtaining an out of state permit while I was there. I figured I would like to be able to carry while I was there. Any suggestions. I have a Florida permit but it is not valid in reciprocity and finding a Utah instructor around here is like trying to find the Holy Grail.

So any suggestions for an out of stater who will be visiting?

Thanks.

In summary there is no consensus.

Bring beer.

I think it is a crap shoot as far as speed goes.

I'd heard Clark County was fast, but it took me almost the full 60 days and I was a 4-month resident at the time.

How long will you be in Seattle?  Might be easier to pick up a Washington ID card ($20), use ID as evidence of statedom, apply for resident concealed permit...  Plus, having the ID card will make it easier for you to buy toys

I believe they pretty much have to do it within 30 days.  Pierce County will do within 15-30 days.  My firs permit took only 18, my most recent renewal took 10.  That's a resident permit though.

Snohomish County was fast.  Initial permit applied for on Monday, in PO box on Thursday....   Many of my out-of-state friends went to the Monroe PD, and the amount of hassle was very low.  I'll never forget the fucking-around a friend and I got from KC Sheriff's office, at the Kenmore Precinct.   "Oh there's a huge waiting list, we only do it on every third Tuesday, months ending with R, Have to make an APPOINTMENT, etc...." From some deputy dickhead...

Told my buddy: Screw this, we're going downtown.    Problem solved,   The 30-day wait policy had just started.
