Yusuf (formerly Cat Stevens) "Peace Train" just played on the radio. Any of you old timers remember him and his story? Interesting IMO |
Yep. I used to on occasion enjoy his music. After his conversion, I converted to not listening to his music anymore. It was because of him and numerous others calling for the killing of Salman Rushdie that I went out and bought the book "Satanic Verses". I still haven't read it, but I have it.
If I'm not mistaken, he is still prohibited from entering into the US. |

I remember.
While he's a douche, I tend to take music at face value. When I hear his stuff occasionlly I don't think "Theres that douche pull start, I'm changing the station". Sabbath (while they are a bit heavy for my tastes) doesn't make me want to shoot my face off commit suicide. When I crank up Runnin With the Devil, I'm not taking the title seriously. Cocaine doesn't make me want to go buy an eight ball and I don't think Morrison screwed his mom. |

I inherited my Mom's 45 collection......that one is in there. I thin the flip side was "Where have all the Children gone". I rarely played it. Even when I was young I knew what hippies were. Maybe I can FleaBay it to some prosperous member of the fight the establishment club.

Matt, it's "Where do the children play". FTR, I am a huge fan of the music. But, I typically avoid the musicians making it. In this case, it's hard to avoid knowing he's a panty pickle. But, I don't feel bad about it, cuz I don't think I ever bought a record new. So I don't feel like I've contributed to any liberal fucktard's fortune. |
