I sent this e-mail to a State Rep. and a Senator, I still received a nice reply. I was directed to contact my federal representatives. Which I will do with a similar letter. Let me know what you think.
SUBJECT: Up holding The Bill of Rights MESSAGE: First off I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my e-mail. At this time I would to take this opportunity to express the concern I have for the possible assault on our Bill of Rights. That includes you, me, and rest of the red blooded Americans that reside in this wonderful country. I believe the first attack will be on the 2nd amendment. First President Obama wants to ban assault rifles. If this were to pass then what next? Attorney General Eric Holder's reasoning is that to many assault rifles are being smuggled into Mexico and used by the Mexican drug cartel to fight against the Mexican Police. As an American citizen I have never smuggled a single firearm across any border, so to me this reasoning does not hold water. I believe the Bill of Rights was written with a great amount of thought, and insight. God forbid a day might come that we may have to protect our selfs as a country, and we may have to call upon the great citizens of this country to stand up. But for this reason alone our forefathers gave us the 2nd amendment. Please protect my rights!! Sincerely, Gary Gascoigne Dear Mr. Gascoigne, Thank you for your email regarding the Bill of Rights, specifically, the 2nd Amendment. I appreciate hearing from you on this critical issue. Public safety is at the heart of all we do as state legislators. Our families and individuals deserve to feel safe and secure in their communities. We must focus our laws on the criminals, especially those who use firearms to commit their crimes, and keeping those who choose to abuse their freedoms off the streets. Placing more restrictions on the rights of law-abiding citizens is not the answer. The ban that you refer to is a federal issue, and while I represent you at the state level here in Olympia, I would urge you to contact your federal representatives on this particular matter. I have included this contact information below: CONGRESSMAN RICK LARSEN EMAIL: Go to the following website, and use the form to ensure that it get there quickly: http://www.house.gov/larsen/contact/ PHONE, Everett Office: (425) 252-3188 TOLL-FREE: (800) 562-1385 SENATOR PATTY MURRAY EMAIL: Go to the following website, and use the form to ensure that it get there quickly: http://murray.senate.gov/email/index.cfm PHONE, Everett Office: (425) 259-6515 SENATOR MARIA CANTWELL: EMAIL: Go to the following website, and use the form to ensure that it get there quickly: http://cantwell.senate.gov/contact/index.cfm PHONE, Everett Office: (425) 303-0114 Again, thank you for contacting me. I hope you will keep in touch, and have a lovely afternoon. Warm regards, Norma Smith State Representative 10th Legislative District |

I can predict what Cantwell and Murray will write:
Dear Mr. Gascoigne,
Thank you for your email regarding the Bill of Rights, specifically, the 2nd Amendment. I appreciate hearing from you on this critical issue. Public safety is at the heart of all we do as senators. Our families and individuals deserve to feel safe and secure in their communities. We must focus our laws on the criminals, especially those who use firearms to commit their crimes, and keeping those who choose to abuse their freedoms off the streets. It is crucial that the Federal government provide funding and cooperation with state and local law enforcement in closing the gun show loophole, thus ensuring that dangerous assault weapons and high-capacity clips stay out of the hands of criminals. |

I am sure you correct, but you can't just give up! |

Sent two critical letters to our reps - within two weeks I received a real estate sale audit for an llc - wanting proof of ownership, paper etc...,
AND the same week, a tax revenue audit for a large purchase made 5 years earlier. They were looking for proof of tax paid for a sports car purchased and delivered to a vacation house in Oregon. Luckily - I had kept the receipts of a USE tax paid upon licensing in WA. (When I went to the DMV they instructed me that I needed to pay a USE tax and not a sales tax because the actual delivery of the shipped vehicle took place in another state. I thought this was weird at the time. I sent the proof of Use tax and the formal investigation was closed. The State should of had this info already - but "didn't". This all happened after I received a negative toned response from Cantwell or Murray - don't remember which one now..... |
