A co-worker of mine got in a bit of trouble about 20 years ago, and he's now wanting to get his gun rights restored. Anybody know of any attorneys in the Olympia area who do that type of thing?
Thanks |

You don't need an attorney to do it.
You make a request through the court which issued the conviction and it is up to them. ETA: be aware though, that even if this person is sucessful in getting thier rights restored, gun ownership is still an issue on the Fed level since the .gov refuses to fund the department tasked with firearm rights restoration........ |

I spoke with the WA NRA district rep a while back and he reccomended a lawyer to use (for a relative, not me). The Lawyer gave a lot of good advice on the ins and outs on what can and can't be done. All said and done, he stated that $800 otd would get him to do all the paperwork, etc. However, no guarantees. As I understand it, the nature of the felony can change how easilly this is all accomplished. |

Would your "co-worker" show up new and unannounced without proper compensation for said legal counsel? ie Where's the beer? Well I think the beer was what got him in this mess in the first place.
He's not real computer literate so I figured I'd try to help him out. |

He got nailed for felony 3rd degree assault in 1985, but was only sentenced to 20 days. I talked to the FBI at NICS and they said that since there wasn't a year in jail, they didn't care as long as he took care of it at the state level. |

Like I said before, some of it is harder to get undone. Violent crimes being one of them. Judge's discression. |

Feds shouldn't be a problem. He's going to call the Court today and see what they say. |
