I am looking at buying a new CMMG AR15.  I have not heard a lot about this company.  Anyone know the history?

Well, let's see. First the earth cooled. And then the dinosaurs came, but they got too big and fat, so they all died and they turned into oil. And then the Arabs came and they bought Mercedes Benzes. And Prince Charles started wearing all of Lady Di's clothes. I couldn't believe it.

Sorry, what was the question again?

I'm not going to move this thread but consider for a moment that with all of the boards and sub forums on AR15.Com there might be a better place to ask a question about CMMG?

I can't profess to know too much about the history of the company, but I'm happy with my CMMG lower that I'm currently rockin'. For what it's worth.

(and welcome to the forum!)

CMMG's been good to me.

They were the cat's meow until they had QC issues a few years back.  Then came the assertion from ADCO their barrels were unsuitable for surpressor use, but CMMG countered that if any problems with suppressors occured because of their barrels, they'd pay for the replacement supressor.

The two CMMG uppers i've had in the last year have been just fine.

While i've had nothing but good luck with CMMG barrels, they do have a habit of saying various thing about their own products and then not backing it up, and they have not grown as a company to match the demand for their product.  Hence, getting ahold of them can prove problamatic at times, customer service can be spotty, and they are constantly out of product.

They did have an issue with some barrels during a group buy here on arf, and things didn't go as smoothly as possible relating to that incident.  I'm still not sure if that all got ironed out in the wash.

I've been quite happy with my CMMG barrel.

I've definitely read about some people having horror stories, but for me that was not the case.

They actually have their own forum in the industry section.
I dont know if their prices match their quality, but I know their prices are "high" or were prior to the recent insanity. Might be on the low side now.
