Well, essentially, what do I need to do haha... Do I need to get through an FFL just like any other firearms sale? Even if it's not a sale and it's a trade instead? Never done this before so any help is greatly appreciated. |

If you're trading with someone I would just write out a bill of sale on each one separately as if you were selling. Put down any price you want.
You keep one copy on each transaction and so does the other guy. I include: S/N Name Date CWP What else is there? What I don't do is sell to someone who does NOT have a CWP. |

Also make sure you get his signature w. a copy of drivers license... This way they can't attach the whole "OMG you sold a gun to a felon thing" and in case it is used in a crime and dumped and it comes back to you, you have proof that you sold it to someone else. The copy of the drivers license will at least attest that you had some sort of dealing with the person who as far as you know was the last owner of the firearm and should get you out of trouble. How much you CYA is up to you.
For me, I want to see a WA DL and a CPL or current WAC badge. I don't need copies, but I'll be memorizing the name so I can record it for my records. If it's a handgun that was 4473'd to me I use the Private Disposition/Transfer Form |

I only do deals through the EE here, so I already have a S/N. I typically get a real name and some sort of contact info (phone or email) in the process of making the deal. I figure if the police or any Alphabet agency show at my door, I'll gladly give them any information I have and pictures I've taken of the piece and it's serial number.
Although, on items I've sold I typically say they must have WA CPL, most I haven't even looked at although most have offered. |

If I sell or trade a gun with anyone here in the state of WA they sure as hell ARE NOT getting a COPY of my d/l. I most likely would not have a problem 'showing' it to someone if I was politely asked .... but to hand over a copy of it ? WTF over Huge +1 on that. |

I like the CPL plan, NO CPL NO Transfer. I wouldn't have any trouble handing over my CPL# or my DL# but you're not getting my license in hand/address. There just isn't a need.
Makes a lot of sense, and hopefully you don't sell a firearm to a psychopath and have it get traced back to you. |

Personally I don't sell to someone that doesn't have a CWP. +1 When I was selling a rifle a couple months ago, I had a couple people contact me asking to do FTF in WA. I said no problem. As long as you have a current CPL, we're golden. I said if not, we can meet at whatever FFL you want and make the transfer there. |
