I'm thinking about going up there tomorrow.... the elevation is not that high so if the area's around SR-14 are clear it should be.

It's open the whole way, no snow on the road, but you can tell where the drifts were in the ditches, no snow on the range itself as of Saturday afternoon.

whats the setup there?  do you need your own bench and stands?

They have some decent benches but you need target stands(worth it IMHO since there is no RO to worry about and everyone I've met up there has been good folk). I built some IPSC style ones out of 2x4s and 1x2s for about 15, Home Depot even cut the lumber for me.

I haven't been up there in a while.. just haven't had the motivation to go fight the wind or the weather

So I went today , no snow really .

So can we only shoot in the two upper areas ? i noticed a sign for the first time today that says "no unauthorised vehicles beyond this point" . So noone is allowed to even be down below ?

What about the other roads ? we drove around alot today , i dont see any signs that say no shooting or off road vehicles ... think i could get away with rippin dirtbikes around ?

The Pacific crest trail is really close to that area about a mile away, so you need to be careful of that. There are also a couple of houses south of it. I've never seen anyone care about the no vehicles sign, but someone who had the authority to post it posted it, so why do you want to abuse our privilege of being able to be there? I think if you drove to park and hike you could talk your way out of any issue, but I cant guarantee that. Also the roads from the one entrance to the pit go behind the range and nothing pisses the people shooting off more than some nitwit riding his bike/vehicle behind the backstop. The power line access roads should be ok. I've never been chased off while driving on them. Jones Creek is a lot closer for dirt bikes anyways and closed to shooting for the most part so it'd be a better place for that.

I ride jones creek alot , and its closed from Dec - May every year , so i was only thinking of riding the power lines , i wouldnt go around the shooting areas , just thought id ask before . I see gas lines all over the roads so i didnt know if they are activly laying pipe or doing work along the roads still .

                                                                  thanks for replying tho .
EDIT , as for where it is , coming form oregon side , i cross bridge of the gods , then turn right on 14 , then take the imediate left after that , stay on that road and then follow it around and you will see a green sign says "shooting range"  go up past the dude living in the camper , and when you hit the sign says "no unauthorised vehicles beyond" then go to the right up hill and the two little ranges are up there . gets crowded on weekends tho like yesterday , but  we just went for a drive along the powerlines , then came back about an hour later and they were both empty . Unless you dont mind squeezing in with folks .

as a important side point, the blue trash barrels are neither targets nor target stands

Ya , all the tables were shot up pretty good on the short range ,and the blue barrels were half way out in the range on eihter side shot up with targets on them .
