Along the lines of the beer thread, where are some amazing sushi restaurants? I'm thinking my north limit is south center (ala Bahama Breeze and BJ's), and my south limit is west Oly or *maybe* Tumwater falls area.
ETA: I don't know why I've never had sushi up here. I eat it every time I'm visiting somewhere on leave, TDY, or whatever. But I've never had any here, except the cheap stuff at the commissary. |

One of the best I've had in Washington (and I've been to a lot) is Taka Sushi in Lynnwood. My Japanese girlfriend agrees. Good to know regarding Taka Sushi. I'll be up that way next week. I'll give it a try. Mashiko has good sushi, but their service can be a little spotty at times. I think they have a reputation for spotty service. I still go there regularly. |

In the area is also Edina Sushi (so-so), Matsu Sushi (so-so sushi, but EXCELLENT traditional Japanese food), and Susumu (very close in quality with Taka, but more expensive). I Love Sushi in Seattle is damn good too, but WAY overpriced. |

Sushi Zen, in Mill Creek Corner of Bothell/Everett and 128/132nd is my favorite.
I'm in Lynnhood and Taka is good, but I prefer the rolls at Sushi Zen. Also, FWIW "The Tuna House" has probably the best nigiri, their fish is always swim away fresh, rice is good as well. |

Haven't been there yet, but 'Sushi Go Round' has created some excitement in Lacey. ETA: It's across from Wal-Mart by the new Mexican place.
Main Chinese Buffet: The only sushi there that I thought was really good was the seaweed. Everything else is OK but not very exciting. However, our daughter likes it and we can't knock the all-you-can-eat policy. |

The sushi's a little warmer than I expected, and the variety and flavor is "decent." Not a place I'd go if I wanted great sushi, but it's 5 mins from my house, and you eat as soon as you sit down, so it works if you have an insta-sushi craving. |

If you ever get into Seattle, go to Musashi's. Fucking delicious, huge portions, cheap as hell. A bit of a wait most of the time as the place only has like 10 tables. But well worth it. Musashi's changed owners a few months ago. its not the same anymore. |

In Olympia Koibito Sushi 1707 Harrison Ave. Better than average size slices of fish and decent prices. Free miso soup with dinner. In Tacoma Sushi Revolution 5225 Tacoma Mall Blvd. You pay by the color of the plate and I fill up pretty good on $20-$25.
Above all THE best place I've ever been is Tanpopo 1122 Denman Street, Vancouver. $20 all you can eat dinner and I think it's only $12 for lunch but the menu's limited. Give the waiter a check list of what you want and they bring it to you as many times as you want. All the fresh Tuna and salmon sashimi you can eat. Check it out |

You should try Shiki on 4th & Roy at the bottom of Queen Anne. It won't be as fancy as some restaurants, but it won't cost you as much either.
Ken is the head sushi chef and owner. Ken is the only place around here that can serve Fugu...that has to say something about his skills. The other thing that speaks volumes about how he got into the business was that he began in a traditional apprenticeship in Japan making no money at all for several years. Ken also is the chef of choice for Ichiro who orders his Salmon Rice Balls before home games. Shiki is full of win |

Fishkepr's wife here:
We went to Fuji Teriyaki Sushi in Olympia (formerly Lew's East Bay) last night. It was awesome in my opinion. The presentation alone, is amazing. I had the deluxe sushi order. Fishkepr had seaweed salad rolls, which are also better than just the salad by itself. He also had the chicken teriyaki with rice and pot stickers. The pot stickers were also excellent because they were more crunchy than the ones they had before. |
