Cake request for 3-year-old Hitler namesake denied

Adolf Hitler Campbell, 3, with his mother Deborah of Holland Township, N.J. ...

EASTON, Pa. — The father of 3-year-old Adolf Hitler Campbell, denied a birthday cake with the child's full name on it by one New Jersey supermarket, is asking for a little tolerance.

Heath Campbell and his wife, Deborah, are upset not only with the decision made by the Greenwich ShopRite, but with an outpouring of angry Internet postings in response to a local newspaper article over the weekend on their flare-up over frosting.

"I think people need to take their heads out of the cloud they've been in and start focusing on the future and not on the past," Heath Campbell said Tuesday in an interview conducted in Easton, on the other side of the Delaware River from where the family lives in Hunterdon County, N.J.

"There's a new president and he says it's time for a change; well, then it's time for a change," the 35-year-old continued. "They need to accept a name. A name's a name. The kid isn't going to grow up and do what (Hitler) did."

Deborah Campbell, 25, said she phoned in her order last week to the ShopRite. When she told the bakery department she wanted her son's name spelled out, she was told to talk to a supervisor, who denied the request.

Karen Meleta, a spokeswoman for ShopRite, said the Campbells had similar requests denied at the same store the last two years and said Heath Campbell previously had asked for a swastika to be included in the decoration.

"We reserve the right not to print anything on the cake that we deem to be inappropriate," Meleta said. "We considered this inappropriate."

The Campbells ultimately got their cake decorated at a Wal-Mart in Pennsylvania, Deborah Campbell said. About 12 people attended the birthday party on Sunday, including several children who were of mixed race, according to Heath Campbell.

"If we're so racist, then why would I have them come into my home?" he asked.

The Campbells' other two children also have unusual names: JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell turns 2 in a few months and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell will be 1 in April.

Heath Campbell said he named his son after Adolf Hitler because he liked the name and because "no one else in the world would have that name." He sounded surprised by all the controversy the dispute had generated.

Campbell said his ancestors are German and that he has lived his entire life in Hunterdon County. On Tuesday he wore a pair of black boots he said were worn by a German soldier during World War II.

He said he was raised not to avoid people of other races but not to mix with them socially or romantically. But he said he would try to raise his children differently.

"Say he grows up and hangs out with black people. That's fine, I don't really care," he said. "That's his choice."

Why not take a look around the web site some time, it's a pretty big place.

A stupid topic like that would have been in GD and it would have been duped at least two times within the first 15 minutes of it being posted there.

This goes back to the shit about GD crap being posted in the WA Hometown forum.

If you wanted to direct is to Neo then you should have used IM's.

If you wanted to give us a heads up on a non-Washington related topic you should have searched the topic, then supplied a link to the original post in GD.

You do this for two reasons, one, so anyone who's really interested in it can benefit from the "wisdom" of the GD posts, the other is to show that you did basic research before you posted.

You don't have a paid membership, it's time to buy one and use the search function.

From a basic GD search:

Store Won't Make Cake For "Adolf Hitler"

3 yr. old adolf hitler cant have is cake. Dupe please delete.

Cake request denied for 3-year old named Adolf Hitler...

So you're saying there are other interesting forums to explore.

A stupid topic like that would have been in GD and it would have been duped at least two times within the first 15 minutes of it being posted there.
Wait, now the other interesting forums are full of stupid dupes?

This goes back to the shit about GD crap being posted in the WA Hometown forum.

How would that have been funny socially to the rest of us?

If you wanted to give us a heads up on a non-Washington related topic you should have searched the topic, then supplied a link to the original post in GD.
So before we post anything, we should search the website, or at least the GD, before posting?  I'd need to be a power-poster to manage that.

Actually I'd think it is somewhat relevant. Neo started a thread once where he said he'd like to share a beer with Hitler, to pick his brains...

That sort of statement isn't easily nor quickly forgotten. Then there's an article from somewhere (PA, I think) that says someone couldn't get a "Happy Birthday Adolf" cake made....seems the parents might admire the Third Reich (based on the fact they also ordered a cake with a swastika on it) and the dad wears boots worn by a 3R soldier....

"What would Neo think about this?" is relevant to the WAHTF, imho...now if the rest of you don't give two shits about Hitler, or kids named Hitler, (or etc.) then perhaps ya'all should STFU.

Again, if someone's going to post a GD type post then why not hotlink the thread from GD (or wherever it came from).

Judgng from the response that Neo's hitler thread received here in the WA forum I would not think that's a beehive anyone would want to stick their dick into.

His hilter post was as fucked up as a soup sandwich, and although the hitler cake thread is funny as a stand alone post it's not funny in the least when linked to Neo.

I really only see one poopy pants here...  Just because something is posted in GD doesn't mean anything...  WAHTF can be construed as a mini GD at times so I think it fits in just fine...  You even posted a quote yourself saying that you can still post GD stuff, but not really recommended...  I thought it was funny...  My original thread got locked because I didn't property state my reason for the thread nor did I word it properly to convey the message I was trying to put out...  Got into a heated debate and then was closed...

I don't find much offense here about this thread so I see no reason it should get locked or even have an argument about the subject...  Most find it funny, some don't...  If I don't like a post, I look the other way unlike some people...  Everyone will have a different opinion...

Plus, if this was a thread about a Good Ole Boy, from another Good Ole Boy, it would probably be different...  Since Skunk and I know each other probably better than any one else does, what is the big problem?

We have the HTF as an escape from GD, so no, the HTF isn't a mini GD. It's for state stuff, but the moderators have been generous about not locking everything non state related. We try not to push it to far, especially with topics that resulted in a shitstorm to begin with.

In case you hadn't noticed, the "shit" from the original Neo thread didn't come from Neo...it came from all the 'tards who can't make two coherant sentences when talking about Hitler.

Again, if you can't/won't contribute anything of worth to this thread, get out. There's no requirement that you post in this thread.
