My overtime at work has slacked off for the first time in years. I'm really enjoying spending the time finishing several "projects" that have been languishing for a long time.
I really, really enjoy the building side. I never seem to get out to the range though. Anyone else dig the build more than the use? Hmmmm I think I have an RL550 somewhere around here... Maybe I should get back into assembling boolits too. Life is good. |

Anyone else dig the build more than the use? Interesting question . . . I've been noticing that myself lately. After growing up with guns (.22 rifle, shotguns) around the farm, I've just recently gotten back into it at the age of 39. In the last several months I've bought three handguns and a WASR. I'm just fascinated with the AK . . . I think about it all the time, dream about it, read various forums, look at for-sale ads for parts and accessories, etc. Over the last few days I've stripped down the furniture and am in the process of refinishing it. And just recently, I've started to realize: I enjoy tinkering with it more than I enjoy shooting it! Some days I'll "waste" the whole day screwing around on the web, etc. when I could have gone to the range and actually SHOT the damned thing! Funny how these things work. |
| Tinkering with stuff is generally cheaper then actually going shooting especially with centerfire guns. When I could shoot in the front yard, I shot a lot more often. Generally 100 rounds or less at a time, but at least once a week if not more I was shooting, Nowadays its once every other week for an hour , maybe. Trying to squeeze in some time to go to the range 15 mins away is a headache compared to tearing something apart and changing parts in the garage. |

Yeah, I had no idea how good I had it as a kid on the farm. Such freedom is rare these days. Move to a rural location, plow up a berm and viola! Although to be honest I dont miss shoveling snow or being cold in ID. Everything else was pretty damn good if ya dont count having money as important |
