My new 552 came in the mail today.

$426.50 on Ebay with free shipping.

Got $42.65 off (Had a 10% off coupon that Ebay had sent me that expired 11/30 at midnight)

Got $127.95 back from the Live.com cashback.

Total cost to me = $255.90

It's pretty.

Think I'm going to pick up another one of the Millett DMS-1's now.

I just saw a 551 on sale for $380.

Is that a big step down in quality from the 552 ?

Same critter. The 551 is slightly smaller due to the different batteries used in it.

I wanted the 552 because AA batteries are more common in my house than N cells.

I did a little research after I posted that. I'm thinking maybe I want something without batterys.
I went to the EE and under Optics/sights there's a guy selling a bunch of ACOGS
less than 1/2 price. He says they are new old stock and unused police returns.
What do you think of a Trijicon TA44-2 for $400 ?

I have one of each, the batteries last slightly longer with the N cells, but they are about twice as much to buy. I use Duracells in the AA one and they seem to last about 72 hours, the N's (energizers) last about 90-96. Both these tests were done with full brightness.

ETA: Damn good price.
