So, I have a trust in my hands, signed, notarized, everything.

I have a form 4 in my hands, filled out by the transferor.

I now find myself with no idea how I am supposed to sign a form 4 as the trust or exactly what I should fill out.

Most of the form 4 is already filled in, such as what it is to be transfered, the checklist of "are you this that or the other bad thing", serial number, etc.

I'm simply stuck at how I need to sign it.

I know that I don't need to attach a pic of myself, nor do I need the CLEO signoff either.

I already have the 'Use' part filled in (For any and all lawfull purposes and in the event of a zombie uprising)

Any help would be great.

Just sign it, you are a trustee of the trust. Or at least that is what someone told me they wrote.

I included (attached) it, at the urgent advice found in one of the threads on it in the Class III section. It was approved in a timely manner.

Can't hurt.

Sorry for the thread jack, but I want to know, what are the chances and how do I get approved for a class 3?  Say I found some full auto trigger parts laying in a trash can and want to install them into my rifle/pistol...  Anyone point me in the right direction to make it legal?

Did you have anything actually listed on the sched A?

I don't really feel like giving them a list of everything we own. Not their business.

Yes, I did. I listed the two items that belong to the trust as of that date;

1) The suppressor being transferred, (manufacturer & serial number).
2) $ (amount specified)

Thanks ODT and EBRguy,  you guys helped a bunch.

Just out of curiosity, what was your approval time for your first one, and how long for the second, if you did a second.

Thanks again!

approval time will be about the same for all of them, they don't have a improved approval time from previous transfers paperwork. But it's getting slower and slower as more people are getting NFA items, my first one was about 5 weeks my second about 8 but this was with a sheriff's sign off

Yea and ATF is always complaining about how they waste more money doing paperwork than actually getting shit done. it's funny how back in the day they were all like "OmG this is going to make things SOOOO MUCH EASIER"... now they are "Oh shit wtf more paperwork" you would have thought that when computers came out they would have started doing this shit a lot faster instead of all the paperwork they have to do. I mean how hard is it to put all the forms on a program set up some centralized ATF database and link all ATF and FBI(NICS System) to it so that some ATF agent at a field office can do the transfer?

I mean they are federal which would supersede state so instead of having to get all those signatures from sheriffs or police chiefs all you really need is the approval of the ATF; as long as it's LEGAL in the State to own that Class III Item. The main reason why we even ask the cops for permission is because they have to tell the ATF that we're allowed to have it.

I mean how hard is it to set up something like this? it's not people do it every day when they set up businesses online... You fillup your cart (the forms you want to buy in this case) you give them all your information and submit your order. You then go to your neighborhood ATF field office where they have a dude that processes all the "orders" who you pay (money order/check/creditcard- any acceptable payment method) At the same time they run all the checks (State legal, background, fingerprint if any (for ffl)) and by the end of the process they have all the stuff that took them weeks to figure out.

Fed law does not supercede state law unless it pertains to very specific situations.

Technically, this is not one of them.

It only happens because states allow it to be so, not because they are forced to.

I guess that came out wrong, what I meant to say was that since most of the process is done by the ATF and the last say comes from them this is more of an ATF thing than it is a State thing.

This would be how the program works...

-Every state submits their yay and nays as to what is and is not allowed in each state. (Silencers, autos, sbr, sbs, etc)

-The ATF makes a database with this information

-You go to ATF website to fill out the registration paper (like you would in any other website)

-An atf person reads the file does all the technical blah blah and gives you a preliminary OK or a NO

-You go to the ATF office (field office) to their Transfer desk (can't think of a better name for this) then you give your Information (pertaining to whatever you are doing) we assume that when you fill out the online form you get some sort of number for reference later on.

-The ATF guy verifies that everything is in order (all State laws are being followed, you are who you say you are, sign papers, etc etc

-The ATF guy calls the ATF field office where the NFA item is coming from and tells them (marks it on the online file as well) that everything is good to go and that shipment is a go.

-You come back whenever the shipment arrives and when everything is checked and in order you pay them all the taxes and fees. (you prolly have to pay for shipping)

––- Ok before anyone says anything I know we would be trusting the ATF with a big responsibility but maybe this way they actually start taking their jobs seriously :O.

The same thing would happen when you apply for an FFl or for any other ATF related issue; you go online (or to a field office if you don't trust the internets) then you fill everything out or turn paper work in. Then the ATF agent either looks up your Reference number or enters the info in the computer and you have started the process for whatever it is you are doing. This will cut down on all mail time since the system will be connected. SO say you have a file with them already all you have to do is give them your previous info and say I want another silencer and they'll be like Oh ok *enters info* ATF: "Ok everything seems in order we'll go ahead and allow the transfer" the process would'nt be "THAT" much shorter than before but it would be an improvement from what it is now.

..
If only "they" were reading this.

I( signed mine with my name, as I'm authorized to do that by the grantor/inventor (me) of my trust.
Dealer screwed up my paperwork. Took 4 months exactly. I did include my schedule A as it only had that one item on it.
