| Well guys I just got out of the hospital last Sunday the 12th after a 5 day stay. Last Tuesday the 7th I awoke to a very painfull and swollen left leg. The docs say I had a blood clot from my belly button area to my left ankle. They did 2 procedures to clean out some of the clot. My leg is still a little painfull and swollen, but at least I made it back to the computer. I am pissed that I missed the Oct. WAC show. Well it's good to be back among the living again. |

Count your blessings that you didn't end up with a stroke or something. This stuff can be deadly. I had a pulmonary embolism once and it was miserable because I felt fine but all the medicos acted like if I sneezed I'd die. Made me lie still in a hospital bed for a week on cumadin. No getting up to whiz or anything. But you don't want to hear about all this... |
| Very odd, and coincidental, my cousin just got out of the hospital with a very similar clot. Hers was not as bad as yours. But diagnosed as "shin splints", until some doc got a wild hair (probably to rack up some charges) and ordered some type of scan, sure enough,, a clot. Very painful, pre and post. You are lucky! |
| If you're not sensitive to it, take an aspirin daily. Emboli, can result from genetic predisposition. At least three in my family, myself included, have had them. An uncle died from them. My brother is in an assisted living place now with zero short term memory and a fuxxored leg, from clots. I, too, had at least six pass through me several years ago. One small one to the heart and several others cost me a lot of lung. You are very fortunate to have caught it when you did. Life is fragile. Glad you're out and about. Start packin' for the next LCR. |
Dam I am pissed I missed the show. I had $ to spend. I am doing okay, the leg is still swollen and hurts. I will now be on bloodthinners for life as this is my 2nd clot. |
